On October 28, a tragic scene unfolded at Niagara Falls when 33-year-old Chaianti Means took her two young children, Roman and Mecca, over the falls railing, resulting in their deaths.
The heartbreaking murder-suicide shocked the local community and led to swirling rumors — but now, Chaianti’s family is speaking out to clarify the real story and raise awareness.
A heartbreaking incident at Niagara Falls claimed the lives of 33-year-old Chaianti Means and her two young children, at Luna Island.
Authorities responded to a call on October 29, reporting the incident around 9 p.m. and quickly determined that Means had taken her and her children’s lives on purpose.
While the incident was confirmed to be an intentional act, many have speculated what may have driven her to this decision.
Rumors about Chaianti’s recent social media posts, where she spoke openly about her breakup with Mecca’s father, spread quickly, with many assuming her death was tied to the split.
But her cousin, Bierra Hamilton, shut this down emphatically, saying, “Her death wasn’t over a man. My cousin was silently fighting d********n alone.”
Hamilton shared that Chaianti, who also went by Diamond Scott, was dealing with postpartum d********n, a struggle often invisible to those around it.
“Understand this – postpartum [d********n] is very real and needs a cure,” she penned, pushing back against the oversimplified narrative circulating online.

“Diamond Scott did not end her life over no man. Let’s just be clear,” she wrote, adding, “YALL BE LOUD AND WRONG.”

“[She was] so full of life and wisdom… She loved her children and her family very much,” she recalled.
Friends and relatives of Chaianti have been sharing memories and condolences online, with one friend, Mitch Molina, saying, “I am literally sick to my stomach and I can’t even deal with the emotions I am feeling.
“Just know her and her children are dearly loved by me and my children,” Molina added.

According to Trooper James O’Callaghan, it appeared Roman was the first to go over the railing, followed by Mecca, and then Chaianti.

Due to the powerful force of Niagara Falls, where over 3,600 tons of water surges over the edge every second, recovering bodies can be nearly impossible.
