The countdown to Halloween is on! And that means the only thing you should be doing in your spare time is working on all of the Halloween-themed crafts you saved on Pinterest over the last year.
And if your Pinterest boards happens to be lacking in the Halloween DIY department, don’t worry! Just take inspiration from the collection of ideas I’ve put together below.
1. DIY Alcohol Ink Pumpkins
If you haven’t tried crafting with alcohol ink yet, this is the perfect time to change that. This stuff can be used for a variety of projects, but using it to decorate pumpkins is one of my favorite ideas.
The lovely ladies over on A Beautiful Mess used pretty shades, like pink and yellow, to create show-stopping accents for their fall-inspired mantel.

2. DIY Paint Splattered Pumpkins
Amy over on Homey Oh My decided to use a paint splattering technique to decorate her batch of craft pumpkins, and I think they turned out great!
The sky’s the limit with a project like this, so definitely take it as an opportunity to let your imagination run wild.
Seriously, don’t hold back! Experiment with different paint colors, brush sizes, and splatter directions, just to see what happens.
3. DIY Glittery Spiderweb Shoes
How cute are these shoes?! Not only would they be fun to wear during the entire month of October, but if you have a Charlotte’s Web fan in your home, they’d make a great costume accessory.
Flamingo Toes used fabric paint and lace to transform a pair of plain tennis shoes into the perfect finishing touch for any fall or Halloween-inspired outfit.
And you don’t have to be a kid to rock a pair of these, either! Heck, I’m in my thirties and I’d wear shoes like this in a heartbeat.
4. DIY Five-Minute Fall Art
Art that can be made in five minutes or less is a winner in my books! And that’s exactly what Thistlewood Farms managed to pull off when they put together this fall-inspired idea.
All you have to do to recreate this DIY yourself is get your hands on some fake leaves and a few floating frames, which you should be able to find in the frame section of a store like Target.
Simply remove the back panel of your frame and place a single leaf on top of the first pane of glass. When the first pane you removed is replaced, you’ll have yourself a pretty piece of art.
5. DIY Skull Stir Sticks
What’s a Halloween party without festive accessories, like stir sticks for spooky cocktails?! Freutcake turned plastic dollar store skulls and cake pop sticks into just that using nothing more than some spray paint and hot glue.
Pretty cool, right?
I know if I were a guest at a Halloween party and I was handed a festive drink with one of these in it, I’d be thrilled!
6. DIY Hamburger Pumpkin
Hamburgers and pumpkins may not sound like the best pairing in the world, but once you see what Lindsay of Shrimp Salad Circus managed to create by combining the two, it might become your new favorite combo.
To make the toppings for her burger, Lindsay used stuff like crafting foam and corrugated cardboard.
She then cut a craft pumpkin in half and used it to sandwich all of her toppings together, creating an adorable front porch burger.
7. DIY Upcycled Haunted House
For those of you who came into this article looking for some upcycling inspiration, you’re going to love this latest, Halloween-themed idea by Sadie Seasongoods .
All she did was use black and purple paint to turn a dated, house-shaped picture frame into an amazing haunted house display.
Just when you thought there couldn’t possibly be a good use for a tacky accessory like that!
8. DIY Dyed Pantyhose
Planning on being a witch or something else that requires the appearance of green skin? Dyed pantyhose is the answer! This DIY is especially helpful if you’re struggling to find the perfect shade of green in a store.
If You Give A Girl A Needle used green food coloring and white vinegar to turn a pair of banana yellow stockings into the perfect witch green.
You can also use Kool-Aid powder to dye pantyhose, but food coloring tends to result in more vibrant colors.
9. DIY Light Box Pumpkin
If you enjoyed the hamburger pumpkin idea from earlier, you’ll probably like this second unique combo by Lindsay of Shrimp Salad Circus , too.
For this project, instead of combining a pumpkin with a burger, she combined one with a light box!
To create this effect, Lindsay used a product called vellum paper, which is readily available at most office supply stores.
10. DIY Spooky Pumpkin Place Card Holders
If you’re going to be hosting people for dinner at some point during the month of October, you should probably consider making place cards so everyone knows where you want them to sit.
The crafty minds over on Freutcake used plastic pumpkins and a small knife to create fun place card holders that would look amazing on a festive table.
And if you’re not a fan of the color scheme they chose to work with, feel free to experiment with one of your own!
11. DIY Googly Eyes Wreath
The thought of using ping-pong balls on a wreath has never crossed my mind, but I’m sure glad it did for Melissa of No. 2 Pencil .
By adding googly eyes to the ping-pong balls, she was able to cover a straw wreath form with giant, glaring eyeballs.
Who wouldn’t want one of these hanging from their front door this time of year?!
12. DIY Potion Bottles
Last, but certainly not least, Magia Mia put together an amazing tutorial that outlines how to turn empty containers into Tim Burton-esque potion bottles. And the best part about this idea is that it doesn’t require any fancy tools or materials.
The aged look was produced by layering various paint colors, and the lettering is nothing more than dried hot glue.
For the toppers, outdoor materials like bark and oak galls filled with plaster were used to complete the haunting appearance of the bottles.
