As the holiday season approaches, a lot of families have already started to enjoy the comforting warmth of their Christmas traditions. Whether it’s going all-out on sparkling decorations, singing festive songs, or setting aside several hours to play poker as my family does, we’ve all got something to look forward to.
However, some Holiday traditions seem to insist on being a part of the experience whether we want them to or not. And many pet owners would take an itchy sweater over the one we’re about to talk about any day.
Whenever a cat owner posts a lovely picture of their pet with a Christmas tree, there’s a good chance we’re only getting half of the story.

Sure, they look heart-meltingly adorable as they sit among the colored lights, but they don’t often stay that way for long.
As soon as that tree comes up, cats have a way of transforming from our cute little buddies to merciless holiday sentinels.

As soon as our backs are turned (if even then), they’re gonna jump for the tree and the sound of shattering ornaments will be our only warning.
Of course, it’s not that they mean to wreck our decorations. A good Christmas tree grabs attention and as far as cats are concerned, it works a little too well.

With all of the interesting lights, ample places to lay down on, and so many dangling baubles to bat around, a Christmas tree had no hope of surviving a curious cat.
So it’s no surprise that some cat owners will take drastic measures to protect their trees.

Turning the tree into an evergreen chandelier is certainly one option, but a British company has just come out with something that might work a little better.
Meet the half Christmas tree from Argos. It has space to hang ornament, but they’ll be safely out of the cat’s reach.

In fact, according to their website , keeping decorations out of reach from “curious, crawling kids or your cats’ playful paws” is the very reason that this tree exists.
They’re gonna need to move it away from that mantelpiece, though.
This half tree provides all the satisfaction of this towering tribute to spite, while still looking a lot more homey.

I can’t promise that it’ll inspire a reaction this amazing out of the cat, though. It’s probably for the best that it doesn’t, though. The cat may take it out on the pile of presents.
Unfortunately, there’s just one problem. As I’ve said, the company that makes them is British and they don’t ship overseas.
So we may have to wait before our mess-free holiday dreams are realized, but it’s still good to know that the answer exists somewhere.
Besides, I doubt it’ll be long before something similar finds its way stateside.
