A Louisiana mother recently saved her home from an intruder who she shot dead. It is traumatizing to experience a terrifying situation of an intruder coming into your home. However, the love of a mother for her family is greater than fear.
The Suspect Broke In At Early Hours

A Louisiana mom was home with her two young children when an intruder broke into her house. The intruder, Robert Rheams, broke into the home on Klein Road in Tangipahoa Parish. He was armed with a lug wrench and a shovel. The local sheriff explained the suspect broke into the home early in the morning.
She Got Physical With The Intruder
The woman found the burglar inside her home. The 51-year-old intruder and the mother-of-two then got into a physical fight. Per NY Post , Chief Jimmy Travis explained that during the scuffle around 5 a.m., the mother fatally shot the intruder. The home intruder was then pronounced dead on the scene.
Police Comment On The Louisiana Mother’s Action
The suspect, Rheams, was out on parole after serving 20 years in prison for armed robbery. Investigators also said he was a suspect in a carjacking some hours before he broke into the home. The mother who shot him dead has not been arrested.
She Exercised Second Amendment Rights
According to Chief Travis, it seems the woman was only exercising her second amendment rights. The right is to protect herself and her children from violent home Intruders. Since the mother was only trying to protect herself and her children, no arrest has been made.
Pregnant Mom Saves The Day From Masked Intruders

This is not the first time a mother is protecting her family from Intruders. A family in Lithia, Florida was invaded by masked intruders in 2019. Jeremy King was home with his eight months old pregnant wife and their 11-year-old daughter.
The Intruders Made Demands
King told Bay News 9 at that time that the intruders were heavily hooded and masked. When they opened the back door, they pointed a pistol at King and held his daughter. They requested everything he had but King responded he had nothing.
The Pregnant Wife Was Quick-thinking

The response provoked them and they struck him with the pistol and kicked his head. On hearing the commotion, his wife peeked and saw King being beaten. She quickly grabbed her AR-15 instead of panicking. One of the intruders saw her and fired a shot but he missed then she fired a shot aimed directly at him.
Update On Intruders And The Family In Lithia
Police found the shot suspect’s body in a ditch nearby. The dead intruder was not identified. However, the second suspect who was also not identified has not been arrested. The police also revealed then that it was not random but it seems the family was targeted.
King Survived The Incident
King on the other hand suffered a concussion, a fractured eye socket, and a sinus cavity. After the incident, he was taken to the hospital and received 20 stitches and 3 staples. King accredited his life to his pregnant wife who was a quick thinker.
