There are a lot of bad designs in the world. Probably even more that are just okay. But one kind of design that we to talk about more often is the good kind.
This list is full of the great ideas people had. I totally think that whoever thought of these things deserve all the bonuses in the world.
“These little salt and pepper shakers that are supplied with my hotel room.”

I’ve never seen such tiny salt and pepper shakers before, but I’m really glad this exists. They’re so cute! And they definitely have enough salt and pepper for a few nights.
“This soap pump I got at Disney World dispenses Mickey shaped soap.”

I love this so much! What a cute, subtle way to bring a little Disney back with you after visiting the park. You could totally reuse it, too. Just not with soap that doesn’t foam.
“How my dipping sauce came in my pizza box…”

I can’t believe no one’s thought of this sooner. I mean, how many times have you gotten a pizza that came with a bag full of sauces? This is definitely a better way to transport the dip.
“My cabin provides creative uses for rags to get visitors to be environmentally conscious and reuse.”

This definitely seems more like they’d rather you use the rags than the clean towels in the cabin. You know, for like cleaning and stuff. Still, a pretty great idea if you ask me.
“Trash can on my way to school. For bottles so homeless people can collect them.”

The best part about this is that it would limit how many bottles (and cans, probably) would end up in the trash instead of the recycling. It’s a win-win situation!
“This shipping icepack is nitrogen-based and useable as plant food.”

My mom will sometimes reuse the icepacks that you get from meal boxes and stuff. Using the insides of the pack to fertilize plants is a pretty good idea, too. Better than just throwing out a bunch of chemicals.
“My New Headboard Has a Secret Compartment.”

I feel like this secret compartment could really come in handy. It could be used to hide valuables from potential burglars. Or, you could keep things you don’t want your kids to see back there.
“The City of São Paulo in Brazil illuminates some of the public buses and trains every year in December to celebrate Christmas.”

This has got to be the most amazing thing ever! I, for one, love Christmas lights on everything, so I just love this. I wish the buses here did this, especially now that the nights are so long.
“My new fitted sheet has a pocket on it.”

Just like a secret pocket in a headboard, a fitted sheet pocket seems like it could really come in handy. Just don’t forget to clean it out before you take your sheets to the washing machine.
“This mini picnic table my neighbor has on their tree for squirrels.”

I wonder if squirrels actually use that mini picnic table, or if they just climb around it on their way up and down the tree. Still, it’s pretty cute, and I kind of want one for my own backyard tree.
“Paint store gave away gallon cans of peanuts as a Holiday gift to its regulars.”

This may not be a design per se, but it’s still a really fun idea. Of course, I’m not really sure how many people would want a paint can full of peanuts for Christmas, but you could put other things in there, too.
“This cake box has instructions on how to dismantle it for recycling.”

I feel like there are a lot of people in this world who need instructions on how to dismantle a box. Which is really weird, since it’s such an easy thing to do.
“This hospital has a 24/7 healthy food vending machine (meals, salads, wraps, sandwiches).”

I’ve seen plenty of creative vending machine ideas out there, but none with healthy meals in them. Seems fitting that it’s in a hospital, both because the food is healthy, and because it operates 24/7.
“This device has 3 different types of plugs.”

I’m sure things like this have existed forever, but as someone who’s never been to Europe, I think it’s so cool! Also, why do different continents and countries have different electrical outlets? What’s up with that?
“This Kirby Fan.”

This is the most Kirby thing to ever exist. His whole thing is sucking in big gusts of air in order to eat everything in sight, after all. Looking at the fan dead on is kind of creepy, though…
“This thermometer has a character on it that displays what/how many clothes you should wear for the given outside temperature.”

I definitely need something like this in my life. I keep forgetting to actually check what the temperature outside is like, and I’m never dressed for the weather. So yeah, this gets my stamp of approval.
“This jacket has a little hole that you can see your watch through.”

I’m not going to lie, this looks kind of steampunk to me. But at the same time, it’s a pretty cool design idea. If you’d rather look at your watch than your phone, then it’ll work!
“This clear soda can.”

Sure, it may not be that special, but I still think there’s a lot to be said about its design. It’s simple, yet effective. Just a really nice “can” that’s actually made out of plastic. Nice.
“This unique way a hotel chose to block a urinal to enforce social distancing in the men’s room in the lobby…”

It serves two purposes. The first is to make sure people follow certain rules and regulations, and the second is to make this bathroom look a little prettier. Maybe all public bathrooms should have plant urinals in them.
“The inside of my pants has care instructions as the Heimlich.”

I mean, I’m sure knowing the Heimlich would come in handy at some point. Sure, you aren’t going to take your pants off to check how it’s done, but maybe as you’re dressing and doing laundry, it’ll get drilled into your head enough for it to be second nature.
You know, in case of an emergency.
