You are not prepared for how cool these nails are.
Any fashion and beauty aficionados know that new nail trends are hard to come by, and even harder to make happen.
Thanks to Demi Lovato, a new trend has risen, and it’s pretty clear (see what I did there) that it’s about to be all the rage.
So, what’s a glass tip nail?
It’s exactly what it sounds like: a manicure that has a clear tip.
Rather than going for full color, or a classic French manicure, people are now asking for glass tip nails, and they’re stunning.
Demi Lovato helped usher in the trend.
She had her nails done at Nail Swag in LA, who posted close-up shots of her awesome manicure.
For most glass tip manis, it’s not about a totally clear tip — it’s about what you can do with that extra space. For Demi, they went for an iridescent foil.
Some of the designs are totally amazing.
For these glass tip nails, actual flowers and gold foil were encapsulated in gel!
The clear tips help show off the artistry of your nails, wouldn’t you agree? (You agree, I know you do.)
Some nails are all about the glitter.
These nails have a few different glass tip techniques. For one, the glitter is gently pulled upwards until it creates an almost ombré effect.
For the pointer finger, it’s clear on one side — almost like they’re really floating,
These glass tips are perfectly framed.
There’s definitely an art to glass tips. If too much of it is clear, you can see where your actual nail or finger starts.
This framing cleverly hides any of those lines.
This manicure is drool-worthy.
See how the nail polish is gently swirled over the edge of where the fingertip would show? That’s true talent right there, seriously.
Not having a glass tip on every nail really allows each one to shine in their own unique way.
Also, I want gold nails now.
A good serving of fruits and veggies.
Some nail artists are learning to take advantage of how big a blank canvas clear nails are, and the creativity is out of control.
These nails feature actual floating fruit decals.
These are cousins, not sisters.
All of these nails have the same basic palette, but totally different styles.
The glass tips aren’t the feature here — it’s the pointed tip on the middle finger that stands out!
These show off your animal side.
Yeah, animal print is back, and it’s back in a big way. Cheetah is huge in nails right now, so this manicure combines two trends in one.
The carefully placed cheetah spots cover any nail growth, too. Ugh, the talent.
All about reversals.
How cool is this manicure? The index and middle fingers have flipped palettes and styles. Using the glitter to tie both styles together was a genius choice, in my opinion.
No glitter here, just nails livin’ in the moment.
Well, okay. There’s some glitter. These glass tips combine two techniques: glitter, which is a glass tip staple, and then a more delicate ombré that fades out into the clear tip.
These look like a pen I had in elementary school.
Remember those novelty pens and pencil cases that had floating glitter inside them? These nails feel like a throwback to fun things like that, and I’m totally here for it.
More subtle transparency.
This is such a flex. This artist hand-painted on flowers over part of the glass tip, but left just enough visible to look cool.
Also, look at those back-to-back flowers! They’re so pretty!
This is totally new.
Why hide that nail line when you can use it, instead? This artist decided to do a totally clear nail, even over the nail bed. Then, glass tips with gold were added, and I am obsessed.
Simply stunning.
A subtle ombré effect here transitions from clear to pale pink in this design. If you aren’t a fan of glitter this is the look for you.
