In the years since he famously graced big screens as Lieutenant Dan in Forest Gump , actor Gary Sinise has become a passionate advocate and supporter of America’s service members, particularly through the Gary Sinise Foundation .
The story of his career, from his modest start on the stage to his life-changing role in the Tom Hanks film, and then finding his passion through military advocacy, is detailed in Sinise’s memoir, “Grateful American: A Journey from Self to Service.”
In honor of this year’s Veteran’s Day, Sinise is encouraging people to gift a signed copy of his book to “our nation’s heroes.”
In a video shared to his more than 244,000 Instagram followers, the actor says he wants to give a “shout-out and a thank-you and a message of gratitude and appreciation” to all U.S. military veterans.
He also encourages everyone to “pat a veteran on the back today and make sure they know we appreciate them and we’re grateful for their service.”
In that same video, Sinise announces that he has signed 1,000 hard-copy copies of “Great American” which are available for purchase now.
“I urge you to get them as soon as possible,” the actor continues. “They’ll probably go quickly.”
But in addition to picking up a signed copy for themselves, Sinise encourages his fans to also consider perhaps buying a copy to then gift to a veteran “in honor of their service to our country.”
To close his video, Sinise sends a big thank-you out to “everyone who’s served our country, who’s currently serving, and the families who support them.”
“God bless you,” he finishes, “and God bless America.”
If you’re interested in picking up a signed copy of “Grateful American” for yourself and/or for a veteran in your life, they appear to still be available for purchase online for $30. Click here to secure your copy, signed by Sinise himself.
