Garfield Wilson is a man that wears many hats. In addition to a successful acting career, Garfield also works as a personal trainer, helping transform people’s bodies and minds. He also has a passion for music, sharing heartfelt videos of his musical talents on his social media.
While he’s a full-time actor today, Garfield told us he didn’t have his heart set on this particular career path right away.
Diply had the chance to sit down with Garfield to talk about life, love, and what matters most to him.
Born in Surrey England, the actor immigrated to Canada with his family when he was 6-years-old.

Garfield first fell in love with music, performing for his friends and family members at every big gathering. He recalled a childhood filled with powder blue suits, dancing along to the Jackson 5 while the audience watched in amazement at his choreographed moves.
Having been in a popular funk/soul cover band for a few years, and gaining popularity as a musician, the actor is still in awe of how his life has turned out.
“It was an up and down journey to get to today,” he explained.
Today, Garfield is a successful actor with many major projects under his belt, including his work on the popular TNT series, *Snowpiercer.*

Netflix describes Snowpiecer as a series “set more than seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland, this series centers on the remaining people, who inhabit a gigantic, perpetually-moving train that circles the globe.”
Playing the dominant role of Jackboot Kaffey, the actor calls his time on the hit series “such a pleasure.”
In regards to the upcoming second season, Garfield tells us Kaffey’s character goes on a journey.
“What my character was, and what I understood my role to be, changes” he revealed.
As far as the comparisons to the 2014 Snowpiercer film go, he explained he wasn’t worried about it once he started working on the series.
“It’s a separate entity than the movie. I wasn’t worried about the comparisons once I read the script… the script was always on point.”
When he’s not acting or hanging out with his family, Garfield works as a personal trainer. His love of fitness came from watching and admiring superheroes growing up. He told us how he loves the feeling of helping others feel good about themselves. “It helps me stay young,” he laughed.
In many ways, Garfield is a superhero in his own rights.
Using his platform on social media to bring awareness and education to his followers about important issues, such as the Black Lives Matter movement, is a cause close to his heart.
In wake of George Floyd’s death this past summer, Garfield said it made him realize how much work still needs to be done, and who would be doing the work. “I think that my children and their children are the ones that are going to move the movement forward. We’re still having the same conversations.”

“I knew I had to call stuff out, but I also wanted to educate,” he revealed. “I wanted to use my social media to move it to an educational conversation.”
He went on to explain how he believes many of his triumphs in life can be accredited to his love of therapy. He said navigating his divorce, his career, and co-parenting with his ex-wife wouldn’t have been possible without it.
His love of life, music, acting, and his family are prominent in his conversation, and his passion is inspiring. With so much coming up for the charming and charismatic actor, he seems ready to take it all in stride!
Catch season 2 of Snowpiercer premiering on TNT on January 25, 2021.
