It’s been a big comeback week for The Nanny !
In addition to their virtual table read, Fran Drescher shared her predictions on where the characters would be in 2020!
You won’t believe what she had to say.
‘The Nanny’ may have ended in 1999, but it’s still a beloved classic to this day.
The ’90s sitcom followed the story of Fran Fine (Fran Drescher) as she attempted to nanny the three children of wealthy widower, Maxwell Sheffield (Charles Shaughnessy).
There was a love story mingled in there as well, as Fran eventually married Maxwell.
With Fran’s signature no-nonsense honesty and humor leading the show, it’s no surprise that the show has become a cult classic.
This is precisely why fans were so excited when the cast recently reunited for a virtual table read of the show’s pilot episode.
“Laughter is the best medicine! So, in these challenging times, Petah and I thought, wouldn’t it be great if we pulled together the original cast of The Nanny for a virtual read of the pilot?” Fran Drescher, the show’s star and co-creator, told Variety .
Petah (Peter Marc Jacobson) is Fran’s ex-husband, as well as the series co-creator.
“It’s a once in a lifetime Pandemic Performance for our fans around the world who are currently stressing in isolation and could use a real upper! It sure has given each of us a lift and we hope it does for you as well.”
By doing so, they’re in good company with the other sitcoms who have also reunited during the coronavirus.
This includes Frasier and Taxi who all plan to reunite to raise money for the Actors Fund.
The virtual table read was posted on YouTube on Monday, April 6.
It featured the original cast: Madeline Zima, Charles Shaughnessy, Rachel Chagall, Lauren Lane, Nicholle Tom, Daniel Davis, Renee Taylor, Benjamin Salisbury, DeeDee Rescher, and Jonathan Penner.
While this was a nice treat for fans, it hasn’t stopped them from wondering where the characters would be in 2020.
Thankfully, Fran has our back for that, too.
While speaking to ‘E! News,’ she recently revealed her predictions.
For one, she’s certain that Fran and Maxwell would still be together.
She also thinks that they would have moved back to Manhatten and their family would have expanded a ton.
“I think Fran would have gotten involved in a fashion blog on how to look like a million bucks on a shoestring budget,” Drescher said.
“Or maybe she might’ve gotten involved in local politics. She always did have a voice for the underdog, for the union workers.”
Unfortunately, not all couples made it, according to Drescher.
C.C. Babcock and butler Niles (played by Lauren Lane and Daniel Davis) are “absolutely not” together, said Drescher.
“We feel like that was a mistake.”
Thankfully, this might all soon be played out on stage!
That’s right, a broadway musical series of the beloved sitcom is in the works, thanks to Drescher, Jacobson, and Rachel Bloom from Crazy Ex Girlfriend .

“We created a small world on The Nanny because it’s a small box you were watching it on,” Fran teased.
“But on Broadway, we’re going to have chorus people, big dance numbers and populate the town of Flushing. The house with have a staff: housekeepers, maids and cooks. It’s going to be incredible.”
There may even be a TV reboot in the works!
Woah, this show is simply the show that just keeps on giving!
“Peter came up with the brilliant idea that Fran and Max moved back to New York because he missed Broadway and, for lack of a better idea, Fran says, ‘Why don’t you do a show about us?'” Fran told E! .
“And then whole first season would be about him producing the show that’s actually on a Broadway.”
In the meantime, fans can catch Fran on her new NBC sitcom, Indebted , which airs Thursday nights at 9:30 p.m., ET.
“We’re showing grandparents in a sitcom who aren’t dowdy, annoying old people,” she said.
