Full disclosure: I’m so grossed out by the idea of this story that I’m not even uploading the images into it until after I’ve written everything. I just don’t want to look at them the whole time.
And can you blame me? This story isn’t about finding a dead fly in your food or a stray hair. This is live crawling bugs all hidden up inside a lettuce wrap until it’s way (way, way) too late.
Maybe you’d expect something like this from a sketchy buffet at a rundown roadside attraction, but not at a Disney resort.

I’m not saying Disney’s perfect or anything, but their parks are well-oiled machines. Mistakes may happen occasionally due to human error, but living, crawling bugs isn’t a mistake.
It’s a tragedy. An itchy, gross travesty.
So yeah, while I usually raise an eyebrow at these sorts of lawsuits, this one is totally legit.

Cynthia Walker, Jeoffrey Walker, Brittany Walker Figueroa and her daughter, Bella were all having a fun time at a Walt Disney World resort in Florida last December.
They decided to enjoy a meal from the Oasis Bar & Grill club-level lounge buffet in the Polynesian Village Resort.
They all ate a few lettuce wraps, filled with veggies and covered in sauce, when Brittany felt something move in her mouth.

What she found was a tiny green bug, its legs still wiggling. Shocked, they checked the food and discovered that the lettuce wraps were home to dozens of the insects.
All four people got “extremely sick” according to the lawsuit they’ve filed, alleging that besides the bugs, they had also had been served contaminated food in their room.

Multiple emergency room visits were required to help fight the food poisoning.
They’re seeking damages “in excess of $15,000” to cover the medical costs caused by the incident as well as lost income from unpaid sick days required.
Disney intends to fight the suit.

In a statement to The New York Post a spokesperson said:
“Enjoying high-quality meals in clean and safe environments is an important part of a Walt Disney World Resort vacation. We do not believe the claimed illnesses were a result of the guests’ dining experiences, and we will defend against these allegations in court.”
Which is all well and good, but I think I’ll hedge my bets and not plan a trip in the near future.
Because yuuuuuuuck .
