Instagram can be such a positive platform to share your lifestyle and fitness goals with everybody. And it can be a great source of motivation for those on the same path.
However, it can also be very misleading when it comes to pictures of perfectly sculpted bodies. That’s why it’s refreshing to see some fitness bloggers showing their flexed vs. relaxed poses to show us they’re normal just like us.
It’s so important to remember that it’s very easy to pose in a way that stretches your body and makes it appear virtually fat-free.
Not so much in reality.
By overly flexing your body, you can make that six-pack appear even though you don’t actually have one.
Just try it yourself and see what difference it makes.
Even if you aren’t a fitness influencer, it’s still possible to flex for a photo.
This is the perfect example of it.
Unless you’re a fitness model and need to be in top shape 24/7 most people have some kind of fat and rolls on their stomach.
It’s just part of life.
Let’s face it: your body is never going to be the same after weight loss or having a baby and you know what?
That’s okay. Don’t believe the hype.
Most perfect photos on Instagram and the rest of social media are heavily staged and taken from the best angles with cleverly crafted poses.
This is real life, though.
Clothing can also play a part.
Once you put on something that is slimming or flattens your bulges, it makes a huge difference as it does here.
Also, slouching is always going to make you look like you have more rolls on your stomach.
Once you flex your body the rolls will usually disappear.
This trick is not only reserved for the ladies because it’s true that guys do it, too.
You will look so much more buff if you flex all your muscles.
It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that if you stand up straight facing the camera you’ll look different than when you twist your body just like this.
It’s all about the angle.
I guess a lot of people want to show their best side on social media, which is fine as long as you don’t try to deceive people.
That’s not cool.
Contrary to popular belief, even thin people can have rolls, bumps and bulges.
Just check out this pretty lady who shares her story with the rest of IG.
A good or bad angle shouldn’t change the way you feel about yourself and your body.
Because no matter what you’re beautiful inside and out. So embrace all of you.
You see there’s no point in making yourself feel bad if you’re constantly comparing yourself to others.
At the end of the day, Instagram isn’t reality. We’re so glad these people shared their true selves with us.
