A father issued a heartbreaking tribute to his 17-year-old son who died after being stabbed at a track meet. The boy died in his brother’s arms after the attack, resulting in immense grief for the family.
They were at a track meet

Austin Metcalf, 17, was at the track and field championship at Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco on Wednesday April 2 with his twin brother, Hunter Metcalf when the incident happened.
Austin reportedly got involved in a fight in the stands with another 17-year-old which resulted in him getting fatally stabbed.
Local police relayed what happened

Speaking to NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth, local police confirmed that officers were called to the stadium at around 10am when they started attempting to save the boy’s life.
“Despite lifesaving measures by police and fire personnel, including CPR and the administration of blood, the (17)-year-old victim died,” police told the outlet.
The conflict was caused by a wrong seat

Austin’s father, Jeff Metcalf, said the altercation was caused over a wrong seat at the event. Hunter, who is Austin’s twin brother, tried to help his brother and stop his bleeding, but it wasn’t enough to save his life.
“I tried to whip around as fast as I could,” Hunter told WFAA, adding, “I looked at my brother and I’m not going to talk about the rest. I tried to help him.”
The father issued a statement after his son’s death

Jeff Metcalf said that his sons didn’t know the person who allegedly attacked Austin.
He told NBC5, “They were twins, identical twins, and his brother was holding on to him, trying to make it stop bleeding, and he died in his brother’s arms. I rushed up there and I saw him on the gurney and I could tell – they said he wasn’t breathing.”
The grief-stricken father couldn’t believe the tragedy

“I could see all the blood, and I saw where the wound was, and I was very concerned, so I had to find his brother, and we rushed to the hospital,” Jeff Metcalf added.
“And we prayed, and it’s God’s plan, I don’t understand it, but they weren’t able to save him. This is murder,” he said.
Metcalf remembered his son’s achievements

The father paid tribute to his son, adding that Austin was the MVP of his football team and was a 4.0 GPA student. “He was loved by many. He was a leader,” the father said.
Metcalf has also set up a GoFundMe to help his family heal from Austin’s death, sharing more heartbreaking messages about his son.
His family will miss him deeply

“We will all remember him for the way he impacted others’ lives. I love you forever, son. It’s not goodbye, it’s see you later,” the father wrote about his late son on the website.
He also described Austin as a “bright young man with a great future ahead of him.”
Police have now arrested the potential perpetrator

Frisco police have now confirmed they arrested and charged 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony with Austin’s death, according to NBC News.
The investigation is still ongoing as Anthony’s bond has not been set yet and it’s still unclear if he has an attorney to speak on his behalf.
