Amy Winehouse took the world by storm when she burst onto the music scene in the late 2000s. She had a unique, powerful voice and a passion for music that was evident in every song she released. Her second album, Back To Black , propelled her to international stardom; however, her struggles with substance abuse eventually led to her untimely passing due to alcohol poisoning on July 23rd, 2011.
Today, on the 8th anniversary of her death, friends and fans alike have come together to pay tribute to Amy.
Kelly Osbourne, one of Amy’s closest friends, shared this image of the two walking arm-in-arm down the street, both laughing. Kelly captioned the photo “Not a day goes by that I don’t miss you.”
Amy’s mother, Janice, shared this image on her Twitter.
The image showed a pair of high heel shoes, which Amy was famous for sporting, alongside a single burning candle.
Fans have also shared tributes to Amy on their own social media feeds.
Another fan wrote, “She was so talented it’s so sad she was gone to soon, I hope now people can appreciate her instead of judging her for her drug addiction but at least she turned that pain into beautiful music.”
Fans are sharing their stories of how much they loved Amy.
Some fans are even detailed how Amy’s struggles with substance abuse helped them through their own, with one writing, “It’s still hard to believe your gone, watching you suffer was like watching my own life, I managed to turn myself around and have 3 months clean/sober. I only wish I could have saved you.”
