2019 saw a lot of things go viral —gloomy pop music, TikTok, VSCO girls, and of course, the iconically awkward Dakota Johnson on Ellen interview.

Now, fans are celebrating its one-year anniversary and I, for one, am all for it.
Ellen has had a *rough* 2020, to say the least.
The once untouchable TV host has faced a lot of scrutiny and backlash on social media this past year.
However, what some fans may not remember is that all this Ellen drama started back in LATE Novemeber of last year!
People started to question Ellen after an interview with *50 Shades of Grey* star Dakota Johnson went sour FAST!
If you don’t remember, I’ll give you a quick rundown. I know, right? I’m so nice like that.
The interview started with Ellen wishing Dakota a happy belated birthday.
“October 4th. You turned 30. And how was the party? I wasn’t invited,” Ellen began.
“Actually, no. That’s not the truth, Ellen. You were invited,” Dakota replied.
EEP!
Dakota then recalled her visit to the show the previous year.
“When I was on the show last year, you gave me a bunch of [expletive] about inviting you, but I didn’t even know you wanted to be invited.”
“Well, who wouldn’t want to be invited to a party?” Ellen asked.
Dakota then countered with something kind of sad: she actually didn’t know if Ellen liked her.
“Of course I like you! You know I liked you! You’ve been on the show many times, and don’t I show…like?”
“This time, you invited me? Are you sure? How do you know? I don’t think so,” Ellen questioned.
“Ask everybody.” That’s where the aforementioned audience gasp was. “Ask Jonathan, your producer. Yeah, he’s right there!”
It was then revealed that Ellen was out of town that weekend!
“Oh yeah, I had that thing!” Ellen exclaimed. “No, I think I do remember. I was invited. Thank you,” she concluded.
See, isn’t that insanely awkward interview DESERVING of such celebration?
