Gwyneth Paltrow has been up to a lot lately. From her Goop Lab series on Netflix to running her own lifestyle brand website, it’s obvious Gwyneth is a lady on a mission.
Sometimes it’s easy to forget the 48-year-old used to be an actress. I know, right, I forgot too!
Sometimes, however, it feels like Gwyneth should have stuck to acting, instead of giving health advice, which she recently has been criticized for.
Gwyneth Paltrow is no stranger to having her “health tips” criticized.
The goop founder has been called out for recommending dangerous health tips for years now.
Remember when she told everyone to steam their vaginas? Crazy times!
As fans may recall, last year was a particularly controversial one for the 48-year-old.
In case you need a quick refresh, 2020 was the year of the v****a candle.
It was also the year that her controversial Netflix series, The Goop Lab with Gwyneth Paltrow premiered to very mixed reviews.
Who can forget last March, when Gwyneth faced backlash for suggesting people learn a new language while in quarantine
“i suggest stealing all the money Gwyneth Paltrow made by telling people to stay healthy by putting crystals in their v****a,” tweeted one critic.
However, 2020 was also the year that Gwyneth invented wearing face masks. Wait, what?
If you’ll recall, Gwyneth was one of the first celebrities to post a selfie wearing an N95 mask while speaking about COVID-19.
On February 26, 2020, Gwyneth posted the following selfie:
“En route to Paris. Paranoid? Prudent? Panicked? Placid? Pandemic? Propaganda? Paltrow’s just going to go ahead and sleep with this thing on the plane,” she wrote.
A year later, Gwyneth admitted she felt being ahead of the curve is just ~part~ of her brand, especially when it came to face masks.
“This is a familiar pattern in my life,” she told the The New York Times back in Feburary.
“I do something early, everyone is like: ‘What is she doing? She’s insane.’ And then it’s adopted by the culture.”
Yikes. Another day, another controversy for Gwyneth amirite?
Now, the actress’s latest video with Vogue magazine is sparking even more outrage amongst fans.
While many people know not to trust the goop founder for health information, many still do, which is why her advice is even more irresponsible!
As fans of the fashion magazine know, *Vogue* often collabs with celebrities to film skincare and makeup routine videos.
Gwyneth is the latest celebrity to walk fans through her morning routine, and while the video starts off normally, things take a turn when the 48-year-old talks about sunscreen.
In the video, Gwyneth is shown applying sunscreen on her face “where the sun hits” it. I know, *stay with me.*
“I’m not a-head-to-toe slather-er of sunscreen, but I like to put some kind of on my nose, and where the sun really hits,” she explained, before adding some to her undereye area.
Um, what?
People took to Twitter to clarify how dangerous that advice was.
“Please do not apply spf ‘like a highlighter’ and if you follow this advice I hope you sue Gwyneth & Vogue for putting out dangerous health content when you’re diagnosed with skin cancer,” wrote one Twitter user.
“This should be banned on the health grounds.. SPF section is truly horrific.. This woman has no health/science knowledge and Vogue shouldn’t be giving a platform to this .. Check with doctors before spreading this around,” echoed another.
“You both need to remove this and apologize,” tweeted one angry critic.
“I really don’t care if Paltrow wants to sell candles that smell like her m**f but her advice on spf is just downright dangerous,” they continued . “You need to be more responsible.”
