Ellen has been using her platform as a popular and beloved actress to raise awareness about the Black Lives Matter protests happening across America and the world.

The 50-year-old has taken to social media to support the movement and encourage others to do the same.
Sharing a “Black Lives Matter” banner, Ellen posted an emotional caption, reflecting on her heartbreak for the country.
“I am profoundly sad that I see still…STILL ..on my feed….all lives matter…take a moment take a deep breath before you get defensive and react to these words you see here in this picture…” she began .
“read the caption below… black lives are not valued in this country and though you may not understand everyday is a day to turn your energy around and see that people are in pain and educate yourself as to why,”
The caption listed dozen’s of innocent and unarmed black people who were murdered unlawfully by either police or fellow civilians.
“the black lives matter movement is not about you … it’s about black lives and they have a right to value their lives just as you value yours… try love try compassion…it feels better than anger… I promise.”

Ellen has also expressed frustration at the forceful police presence at these BLM protests.
“Why at the women’s march there’s no machine guns,” she asked.

“Why at pride marches there’s no machine guns. But at the Black Lives Matter march, machine guns everywhere. I don’t know. You tell me.”
