The world was rocked by the devastating news of actor Chadwick Boseman’s death this past weekend.
The Black Panther star was 43 years old when he passed away after a battle with colon cancer.
Friends and fans alike have taken to social media to express their condolences and share stories of the beloved actor and the Marvel family has made an emotional new tribute video.
Of course, Chadwick Boseman’s most famous role was in the 2018 Marvel movie *Black Panther.*
Chadwick reprised the iconic role for the Avengers films, where he worked alongside Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Wanda Maximoff in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Earlier in his career, Chadwick had the opportunity to portray real-life historical legends on the big screen.
The actor played Jackie Robinson in the 2013 film 42, James Brown in Get on Up the following year, and Thurgood Marshall in the 2017 movie Marshall.
Chadwick’s personal social media accounts broke the devastating news.
The post indicates the actor died with his wife and close family by his side after a four-year battle with stage three colon cancer.
“Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV.”
The statement continued: “A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much.”
The statement continued: “From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more — all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy.”
“It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther .”
Many of Chadwick’s *Avengers* costars were quick to post tributes/comments of condolences.
“This is such devastating news. We’re praying for his family. The world has lost an immeasurable talent and a great person,” commented Chadwick’s Avengers costar Chris Pratt.
Robert Downey Jr. posted an emotional tribute video to his friend and co-star.
“Mr. Boseman leveled the playing field while fighting for his life… That’s heroism… I’ll remember the good times, the laughter, and the way he changed the game… #chadwickforever,” the actor wrote .
While many of Chadwick’s *Avengers* co-stars were quick to post on social media, Elizabeth Olsen was not.
And instead of being understanding that the actress might be grieving the loss of her close friend, some Avengers fans took a different approach.
Internet trolls starting flooding Elizabeth’s social media with hateful messages just an *hour* after Chadwick’s death
This overwhelming amount of hate led to Elizabeth deactivating her Instagram account.
However, Elizabeth can be seen getting emotional in the ABC tribute released on Sunday. It’s clear the news of her friend passing has hit the 31-year-old hard.
“It’s only fit to be mourning him like a king,” Elizabeth says through tears.
“Look at her. She’s a mess and all you care about is a post on social media? she’s grieving for [expletive] sake,” expressed one fan .
It’s so unfair for people to be harassing her. Everyone grieves differently! Not everyone is quick to share their feelings on social media, and that is okay!
We hope Elizabeth feels comfortable reactivating her social media soon.
Our thoughts are with Chadwick’s friends and family during this incredibly difficult time.
