There’s nothing worse than rushing out the door on a cold winter morning only to wait for your car windows to un-fog themselves. Sitting there miserably while the car warms up cuts into my already very small tank of patience.
If this sounds familiar, you’ll be happy to know I come barring a solution.
Living in a cold climate comes with many disadvantages.
In fact, I’m struggling to think of any positives at the moment. I do like a white Christmas, but other than that, I’d be fine with the sunshine all year long.
Undeniably, one of the worst parts of having cold winters is driving in the snow.
Watching vehicles slip and slide down the street is one thing, but helping your best friend dig her car out of a snowy ditch at two in the morning is another.
Oh, is that not a universal experience?
Another thing that blows about living in freezing temperatures is the foggy car windows.
There’s nothing worse than trying to rush out of a holiday brunch before Uncle Gary starts talking politics and winding up stuck in the driveway for 10 minutes because you prefer to see out of your car before you drive it.
Well, thanks to a TikTok user’s viral video, it seems there is a solution to this all-too-common issue.
Don’t you love when social media contributes something positive to our lives?
And it’s a pretty affordable solution, too!
The trick? Dehumidifier bags!
“All you want to do is throw them [the dehumidifiers] on your dashboard and they’re going to soak up all of the moisture and the condensation from inside, stopping you from having to mess about wiping the inside of your windscreen in the morning,” user allukreviews shared.
As it turns out, the dampness in the air is not just a pain in the b**t — it’s also bad for your car!
The moisture can create mold (gross!) and clog your sunroof drains, which can seriously impact the vibe
Viewers had a lot to say about the hack, which gained over 4 million views on TikTok in just a few days.
“I need these! My mornings are a nightmare, especially before the school run. Thank you for sharing,” commented one user.
“Just ordered two packs for my parents as they keep using micro fibre clothes. So this will make their job a bit easier. Thanks for popping up on my fyp!” said another
.
Other users were determined to help uninterested people figure out why their cars were fogging up in the first place.
“Moisture sticks to your window due to dirt, they may look clean but aren’t, also if you run your a\c all year it drys the air out (it works with the heating on too) I never turn it off, works a treat,” pointed out one user.
“If you have moisture inside your car it’s because water is getting in from somewhere,” said another.
Now look, I’m gonna be honest — I don’t feel like being a mechanic and/or detective so I’ll be ordering some of these bags and enjoying fog-free windows all winter long!
