There’s no denying 2020 has been one of the hardest years in a long time — especially for those working in the service industry!
Leaving a generous tip is always a nice way to make your waiter feel appreciated, but Donnie Wahlberg took that up a notch by tipping his server $2,020 in an effort to brighten someone’s year!
I can’t think of anyone who wasn’t a little bit obsessed with The New Kids On The Block back in the day— we’re only human after all!
While I was more of a Jordan girl myself, there was no denying everyone had a soft spot for the Wahlberg brothers.
Now, they’ve gone on to be successful actors and burger restaurant owners! No has-beens here!
These days, Donnie is happily married to funny lady Jenny McCarthy, and has been for six years now! That’s basically a lifetime by Hollywood standards.

The two even tried the whole reality TV couple thing with their show Donnie Loves Jenny. The show went on for a whole three seasons before being canceled in 2016.
However, unlike Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, these two didn’t divorce once the cameras stopped rolling.
Now, Donnie is making headlines for leaving a generous tip for a server in Massachusetts earlier this month!
The actor left a $2,020 tip on a $35 bill after dining at Marshland Restaurant in Plymouth, Massachusetts, which is just outside his hometown of Boston!
The restaurant posted a picture of the receipt with the caption : “A very special thank you to our friend @donniewahlberg! When asked about it all he said was “who’s up next?!'”
What an amazing gesture!
The owner of the restaurant, 56-year-old Marty Finch, chatted with *People* about the generous tip Donnie gave to his employee, Denise Andrews.

“Donnie has been here before in the past and he always asks for [Denise],” he told the publication .
“He had his normal order: steak tips with some grilled asparagus and some poached eggs. She always knows what he wants.”
“When he left he just said, ‘Denise, you’re all set. The payment is on the table,'” Marty continued.
“She always says he’s a very good tipper anyway but her jaw dropped, to say the least, when she saw that amount of tip.”
The kindness doesn’t stop there! Marty explained that Denise was eager to share the generous tip with her coworkers. “Denise was very generous. She tipped out her fellow waitstaff and the guys in the kitchen, and she actually donated too.”
“She’s working on getting two families turkey meals during the holidays, so she’s generous herself.”
“Donnie said to pass it on, to keep this positive stuff going, so she’s trying to do that as well.”

It sounds like the money couldn’t have gone to a better person! I can’t promise I wouldn’t keep the tip all to myself and book a Carribean cruise when all this 2020 madness is over!
Marty went on to explain this type of generosity is what motivates him to keep going and working hard to keep his restaurants afloat amidst the pandemic.

“Me, as the owner, we’ve struggled these last eight months. We’ve really tried to keep these doors open,” he said.
“We actually closed for a couple of months because it just wasn’t looking good. But we reopened, and it’s been a blessing that we did.”
“We’re kind of like a homecooked-food-neighborhood-type restaurant, so it’s just been a really good feeling all around,” Marty concluded.
This is exactly the type of thing we need to see from more Hollywood celebrities, especially during such turbulent times! There’s nothing more disappointing than finding out your favorite actor is a cheapskate!

Donnie and Jenny are no strangers to generous gestures like these. In fact, the couple rang in the New Year in the exact same way!
Back in January, the couple left a $2,020 tip at an iHop and dubbed it the “2020 Challenge,” asking their other celebrity friends to do the same! Little did they know just how MANY challenges 2020 would bring!

If celebrities who peaked in the ’90s can be this generous with their money, what is everyone else’s excuse?!
This is the new standard for celebrity tipping as far as I’m concerned!
