A U.S. military member detailed to work at the White House and reportedly serving as one of President T***p’s personal valets has tested positive for the coronavirus.
The White House has since confirmed this news, but hasn’t specified what role exactly is served by the infected Navy member.
On Thursday, CNN first reported that the individual who tested positive was a valet for T***p, indicating they would have been in close contact with each other.
According to a White House source, the unidentified person began exhibiting corona-like symptoms on Wednesday, and said T***p was reportedly “upset” when he learned that the valet had subsequently tested positive.
As the source told CNN , news of the positive coronavirus test was “hitting the fan” in the West Wing.
The White House has since confirmed that a member of the military who works at the White House has indeed tested positive for COVID-19.
“We were recently notified by the White House Medical Unit that a member of the United States Military, who works on the White House campus, has tested positive for Coronavirus,” deputy White House press secretary Hogan Gidley said in a statement. “The President and the Vice President have since tested negative for the virus and they remain in great health.”
However, the White House has declined to comment on what exact role this infected individual holds there.
Despite the ongoing outbreak and federal health guidelines, President T***p has refused to wear a face mask in public.
The POTUS was recently photographed forgoing the precautionary face covering while visiting a Honeywell mask-making plant in Arizona on Tuesday, a decision which he has since defended as being due to the cameras on scene.
“I had a mask on for a period of time,” T***p said in the Oval Office on Wednesday, according to CNN . “I had it on backstage. But they said you didn’t need it, so, I didn’t need it.”
“And by the way,” he added, “if you noticed, nobody else had it on that was in the group.”
