Whiskey, a stunning Australian Shepherd and Border Collie mix, absolutely adores grandma but they haven’t seen each other for six months. On a walk with mom, she got the surprise of her life!
“Seeing if my dog recognizes my mom walking by after not seeing her for 6 months,” narrates the TikTok clip.
At first, Whiskey didn’t recognize her grandma, who walked right past her. She threw a quick glance but continued walking, and then did a double-take. Just as she was walking again, she paused abruptly, turned around, and excitedly ran to grandma.
A Heartwarming Reunion

It didn’t take long for Whiskey to recognize her grandma. After getting a whiff of grandma’s scent when she walked by, Whiskey’s senses immediately figured out who the lady was. The fur baby was so overjoyed she started crying and jumping over to grandma, who was equally happy to be reunited.
“dogs dont recognize by scent, they recognize by smell, that double take was getting the scent” one commenter pointed out.
“so wholesome,” another one said.
Dogs Are Great For Your Mental Health

Dogs have long been our best animal companions. While they may not speak our language, these furry creatures somehow understand us in a way that no other animal does. They aren’t just loyal companions, they are also great for our mental health. It has been scientifically proven that pet ownership can significantly reduce stress and boost happiness.
“Simply petting an animal can decrease the level of the stress hormone cortisol and boost release of the neurotransmitter serotonin, resulting in lowered blood pressure and heart rate and, possibly, in elevated mood,” behavioral neurologist Marwan Sabbagh, MD, tells Cleveland Clinic .
