Fans of the Disney Descendants series were disappointed to learn that the red carpet premiere for Descendants 3 scheduled for July 22nd has been cancelled, but it’s for an understandable reason.
Cameron Boyce, one of the films’ stars, passed away last week at only 20 years old.

Cameron played the character Carlos De Vil, son of the 101 Dalmatians villainess Cruella De Vil. He originated the character in the original Descendants movie, and reprised it in both sequels.
Cameron passed away in his sleep after suffering from a seizure.

In a statement on behalf of the family, it was confirmed that, “He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated.”
“The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights.”

“But his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him.”
Cameron had an extended history with Disney.

Cameron rose to fame on the Disney channel show Jessie from 2011 to 2015, and made guest appearances on other Disney shows like Shake It Up, Liv and Maddie, and Good Luck Charlie .
Disney has just announced they will not be holding the red carpet premiere for ‘Descendants 3.’

They announced that instead, they would be donating to the Thirst Project, a nonprofit that Cameron was heavily involved with.
Disney also announced another special plan.

“Disney Channel will dedicate the telecast of “Descendants 3″ in Cameron Boyce’s memory,” a statement read.
Cameron’s ‘Descendants’ co-star, Dove Cameron, posted a heartbreaking video to her Instagram.

In it, Dove explains, “Cameron was one of my favorite people alive in the world, though I know that’s not unique to me. Cameron was magic, an earth angel.”

Descendants 3 is set to premiere on the Disney Channel on August 2nd, and it has been reported that it will be the last film in the Descendants 3.
