A TikTok mom who seemed to have set up the perfect Christmas celebration for her family felt she did not receive the same level of appreciation when she took to the short-form app to share her story.
The TikTok Mom Expressed Her Disappointment
The TikToker with username, @missmear , and display name Mary looked dejected as she opened up on how her family’s holiday celebration went. She filmed the clip with a lengthy write-up taking up the display page. The TikToker relayed that she knew she was not the only mom who woke up on Christmas morning without “a single present.” She penned:

Mary’s short but significant TikTok clip got many moms flocking to the comment section to agree with her and also share their stories. One mom made it known that she experienced a lack of appreciation for ten years such that she had to beg to be seen. According to her, the last straw was on Mother’s Day, and she divorced her spouse after that. One user made it known that the presents meant more than the material aspect of it.
She described the lack of gifting as “the feeling of nothingness and having to not show it while everyone is opening their gifts.” The creator liked this comment seemingly agreeing that the feeling was familiar and valid.

She recalled crying secretly in her room for the most part of the day while pretending and telling everyone she had a migraine. She noted that it and the feel “unloved.” One wife stated that she would usually get her husband Father’s Day and birthday presents, but he never reciprocated. In the end, she stopped doing all of that. The comment section racked up over 20,000 comments from dissatisfied moms who made it known that they go all out for their family members but get almost nothing or nothing in return.
She Gave More Insight Into Her Story
Although the social media user did not utter a word in her six-second clip, the word written all over her image was enough to elicit responses from other TikTok users. In a follow-up video, she labeled update 1, the TikTok mom who went viral made it known that she was happy to see the positive and uplifting comments that came her way as well as other moms who could relate to her story.
Mary stated that it felt really pathetic that the situation of being underappreciated was “normal” among moms, and at the same time, these moms had to put their kids first. She added that the negative comments did not bug her or make her feel “any type of way.”

This made her feel even more convinced that he would try to make the last Christmas special for her. She noted how they had been through a lot which included a lot of loss and sadness.
She Opened Up About The Challenging Times
Leading up to the 2022 Christmas celebration, Mary and her family dealt with several challenges starting with losing her mom in May 2021. Mary stated that her mom was 45 years old and her family took a blow when she passed. She noted that her mom’s death was hard on their family. Months after her funeral, Mary found out she was pregnant, and 20 weeks into her pregnancy, she caught COVID-19. She ended up on a ventilator, and on that same night, Mary sadly lost her baby.
Mary Missed Out On The 2021 Holidays
The recovery process after her health ordeal made Mary miss out on Christmas in 2021. She recalled waking up at the hospital in January, to realize she did not spend the holidays with her family. Mary felt that last Christmas was a way for them to make up for the lost time, and she told her spouse this. She noted how that terrible period in her life made her realize the need to appreciate the ones you love more, and she believed her spouse felt the same way.
With this in mind, Mary noted that her kids “got spoiled” for Christmas as they got all they wanted. So when she woke up on Christmas morning realizing she did not get a present, this made her “pretty upset.”

After sharing the heartbreaking backstory, Mary’s comment section was filled with media users who felt she let her know she deserved better than being neglected in that way.
