South Carolina representative Joe Wilson proposed a new $250 bill that would have Donald Trump’s face on it but quickly faced backlash online for the suggestion.
Wilson took to praising the president
Trump’s supporters in the congress have been praising him since the start of his second round at the White House.

Most recently, South Carolina representative Joe Wilson took to X/Twitter to suggest a new dollar bill with the 47th president’s face on it.
He posted the proposal online
The congressman posted an image of what the suggested $250 bill with Donald Trump’s face on it would look like with a message telling people that he’s taking the necessary steps to bring the bill to life.
Trump’s image would be in color
The image shared by Wilson shows the new bill in the iconic green except for Trump’s face, which would be in full color.
“Grateful to announce that I am drafting legislation to direct the Bureau of Engraving and Printing to design a $250 bill featuring Donald J. Trump,” Wilson wrote.
“Bidenflation has destroyed the economy forcing American families to carry more cash. Most valuable bill for most valuable President!” he added.
People weren’t too happy about this
Wilson didn’t get the praise he expected from putting in his two cents. Many were critical of the suggestion and felt it shouldn’t be a priority.
One person wrote, “Really? I voted for Trump, but isn’t there more pressing issues at hand?”
Someone mocked, asking if it was a joke
“Starting to think this is a parody account. You think we carry $250 around? You are out of touch Joe,” one user wrote.
Another referenced the ultimatum given to federal employees where they were told to name 5 things they achieved that week or they’d be removed from their jobs. The user wrote, “Did you fill out the 5 things you did last week? If this is on your agenda, it would seem you are expendable.”
Many questioned if this was important
One user asked, “How does this fix any of America’s problems? Now get to work on actual important stuff Joe!”
Others weren’t impressed as they referenced the state of the economy, with one writing, “Great idea! Now we have a large enough bill to pay for a single carton of eggs. Way things are going, in a month you will have to make a $470 bill.”
Wilson didn’t seem shaken
Although he received a lot of backlash for the idea, Wilson didn’t seem deterred as he came back with a follow-up post sharing a page of the bill.
“Grateful to introduce the DONALD J. TRUMP $250 BILL ACT. This big beautiful bill will honor the 250th birthday of America and our most valuable President Donald J. Trump! Thank you to cosponsors @RepHarshbarger @RepRalphNorman @repdarrellissa. GOD BLESS AMERICA,” he added.
Wilson seems pretty sold on his own idea, although many aren’t. We’ll have to wait and see if this comes into effect.
