And while the six-time Oscar award-winning film is still living on in the hearts of fans everywhere, word of a second film has been swirling around Hollywood for a while now.

However, it seems that the iconic actress that MADE THE FILM WHAT IT WAS, Charlize Theron, will not be a part of the sequel.

So when the news came out earlier this year that Charlize would not be playing Furiosa in the upcoming Mad Max film, fans were PISSED!
For me, Charlize totally made the movie! Her emotional and complex portrayal of Furiosa is what kept my attention throughout the film. Sorry, Tom Hardy.
So when director George Miller announced that Charlize will not return in the new Mad Max film because he wants it to be a prequel featuring a ~ younger ~ Furiosa, it didn’t make sense!!!
Charlize COULD TOTALLY play a younger Furiosa! It’s absolutely possible!!! She has NOT ONE WRINKLE ON HER FACE!
In response to the news that she wouldn’t be returning to the franchise, Charlize told The Hollywood Reporter that the info was devastating to hear.
“It’s a tough one to swallow,” Charlize told the publication.
“Listen, I fully respect George, if not more so in the aftermath of making Fury Road with him. He’s a master, and I wish him nothing but the best.”
“Yeah, it’s a little heartbreaking, for sure. I really love that character, and I’m so grateful that I had a small part in creating her.”
“She will forever be someone I think of and reflect on fondly,” she continued.
“Obviously, I would love to see that story continue, and if he feels like he has to go about it this way, then I trust him in that manner.”
“We get so hung up on the smaller details that we forget the thing that we emotionally tap into has nothing to do with that minute thing that we’re focusing on.”
If you take a quick look at Charlize’s Instagram, it’s clear the role truly meant a lot to her.

Fans are equally angry about the news of a new, younger Furiosa!
“this is such [expletive] they’re replacing charlize in the prequel for a younger actress but tom hardy gets to keep on being max????? [expletive] charlize IS furiosa no one gives a damn if she doesn’t look 20 we dont exactly expect realism in a film about apocalyptic speed racer,” tweeted one angry fan.
“I’d rather have Charlize play Furiosa with some slight deaging effect than have another actress play her,” tweeted another.
“It’s a tough role to recast. Theron is an incredibly talented actor who can act while matching action chips with any action star. Hope they can find someone who can do it as well as her,” chimed in another fan.
Thankfully, Charlize is a Hollywood legend and will be on our screens again very soon!
Her latest action flick, The Old Guard , is coming to Netflix on July 10th!
