Last night’s Academy Awards ceremony honoured members of the film community who have passed during the touching In Memoriam segment.
Grammy award winning artist Billie Eilish sang a beautiful rendition of “Yesterday” by The Beatles as names and photos flashed on the screen behind her.
The In Memoriam segment opened with a tribute to Oscar-winner and NBA legend Kobe Bryant, and closed with Kirk Douglas, who died last week at the age of 103.
While the tribute was stunning, it noticeably omitted actors Luke Perry and Cameron Boyce.
This felt perplexing, especially considering Perry’s last film appearance was one of the Best Picture nominees, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.”
Perry died after suffering a “massive stroke” in late February 2019.
Boyce’s last on-screen performance was Disney Channel’s “Descendants 3” last summer.
The 20-year-old Disney star passed away of a seizure in July 2019.

Horror film legend Sid Haig was also omitted from the segment.
Needless to say, fans are upset at the snub.
Many fans were understandably hurt that their favorite actors were left out.
“You suck for leaving Luke Perry out of the In Memoriam @TheAcademy,” one fan wrote.
“I’m really bummed they left off @TheCameronBoyce in the #oscars In Memoriam,” wrote another.
“how tf did they miss Luke Perry & Cameron Boyce tho? the entire country was shocked when they passed,” asked one Twitter user.
Some fans pointed out that the homage is limited to the amount of time it takes for the artist to sing a song.
THIS IS A GOOD IDEA! It’s important to honor all the members of the Hollywood community who have passed.
Let’s hope 2021 is the year of no more snubs.
