If you’re a 007 fan, this past year has been a whirlwind, to say the least. Not only have you had to say goodbye to one of the most beloved James Bond actors Daniel Craig, but you’ve been getting whiplash from hearing new updates from the franchise every few months.
After being told fan-favorite Idris Elba was off the table last year, fans were surprised to hear from longtime producer Barbara Broccoli that he was one of the actors in talks for the role.
Idris Elba is one of the most gorgeous men on the planet. I know, right? What a groundbreaking statement. Next I’ll be telling you the sky is blue.
In addition to being physically perfect, he’s an acclaimed action star and he’s British — what more could you want for a potential James Bond?
Fans have been speculating about who the next James Bond will be for over two YEARS now.
In fact, last year we were told Idris has confirmed he wasn’t going to be 007. However, everything has changed following an interview with longtime James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli.
As reported by Deadline, Barara shared that there have been talks about Idris taking over the iconic role, although the official casting process hasn’t started yet.
“Well, we know Idris, I’m friends with him and he’s a magnificent actor,” she said. “You know, it’s been part of the conversation, but it’s always difficult to have the conversation when you have someone in the seat.”
She continued:
“I think we have decided that until ‘No Time to Die’ has kind of had its run and [Daniel Craig] has been able to — well, we’ve all been able to — reap the benefits of Daniel’s wonderful tenure, we’re not gonna think about or talk about anybody else, actors to play the role or storylines or anything.”
“We just want to live in the moment, the present.”
Well, Barbara, I hate to break it to you but we the public, the fans are wanting to know who they will see suit up next because… to be frank, there’s not a lot going on right now!
