Amid the height of the recent #BlackLivesMatter movement, celebrities have been doing their part — using their platforms to speak out against the incessant racial injustices we’ve been seeing far too much of in the U.S.
Most recently, Bryce Dallas Howard has been urging her fans to learn about racism through film, but specified that The Help would not be.

While there have been far too many examples of police officers needlessly killing black people, the murder of George Floyd last week has triggered a — not only American — but worldwide movement.
If you have been keeping up with the recent height of the #BlackLivesMatter movement, then you probably know that most celebrities have been doing their part to contribute.
Whether they’re simply using their platform to spread the word, donating, or trying to educate their fans,
For example, Halsey has been attending the protests, donating money, and speaking out on social media.
“Please look at this thread. My initial contributions are $100,000 to the various organizations I have included. I encourage you and my peers to contribute whatever you can. Every amount counts!!!!!,” she tweeted , along with a link, encouraging her fans to donate as well.
Halsey’s ex-boyfriend, rapper, G-Eazy also donated to the cause — following the lead of singer/songwriter, Kehlani.
“Matched my sis @Kehlani asking everyone else who can to step up and help contribute to @PeoplesBreakOak,” he tweeted along with a screenshot of his $2000 donation!
Drake also donated $100,000 to causes that benefit black communities.
He revealed that his contribution was initially flagged, writing : “They just called fraud on my card LOL,” Drake said. “I donated 100K. They were like nah .”
Thankfully, his donation went through, and a screenshot was shared as proof.
Drake wasn’t the only Toronto artist to make a significant contribution. The Weeknd wasted no time to give a very sizable donation.
The Weeknd donated a whopping $500,000 to various causes such as Black Lives Matter Global Network, Know Your Rights, and National Bail Out.
“Keep supporting our brothers and sisters out there risking everything to push for actual change for our black lives,” he wrote on Instagram.
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend also made a significant financial contribution.
“In celebration of whatever the [expletive] maga night is, I am committed to donating $100,000 to the bail outs of protestors across the country,” Chrissy tweeted on Saturday, later adding ,
“Ooo they might need more money then. Make it $200,000.”
Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively donated a total of $200,000 to NAACP Legal Defense Fund.
“We’ve never had to worry about preparing our kids for different rules of law or what might happen if we’re pulled over in the car,” the pair both shared in a statement on social media .
“We don’t know what it’s like to experience that life day in and day out. We can’t imagine feeling that kind of fear and anger. We’re ashamed that in the past we’ve allowed ourselves to be uninformed about how deeply rooted systemic racism is.”

Seth Rogen matched a $50 donation, and donated an additional contribution on top of that.
The Knocked Up star, and comedian revealed on Twitter that he matched a $50 donation to the Minnesota Freedom Fund to bail out the protestors in Minneapolis.
And he donated “much more”, apparently!
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. But one celebrity in particular who has been offering an alternative way to help, is Bryce Dallas Howard.
She has been encouraging her followers to educate themselves on racism and the history of racism through film — with the exception of one of her movies, The Help .
“I’m so grateful for the exquisite friendships that came from that film — our bond is something I treasure deeply and will last a lifetime,” she wrote.
“That being said, The Help is a fictional story told through the perspective of a white character and was created by predominantly white storytellers. We can all go further .”
“Stories are a gateway to radical empathy and the greatest ones are catalysts for action,” she continued.
She went on to explain that if you’re looking for a film that will help you understand the oppression that black people have faced for hundreds of years, there are better options than The Help .
She then listed movies such as: *13th, Eyes on the Prize, I am Not Your Negro, Just Mercy, Malcom X*
As well as, Say Her Name: The Life And Death Of Sandra Bland, Selma, Watchmen and When They See Us .
