A research worker suffered emotional abuse from her employer for years and became conditioned to it until her colleagues reported the abuser to the head. Unfortunately, like with many such cases in corporate America, the top did nothing to remedy this situation.

It’s a great thing that the OP realized her worth, got a better offer, and quit. It’s even better she didn’t let the subsequent manipulative tears keep her from escaping the toxic work environment.
