You’ve heard of boudoir photoshoots, but what about a “dudeoir” photoshoot?
Well, the idea is very similar, but replace a scantily-clad lady with a man rocking a dad-bod, and you have yourself a dudeoir photoshoot.
One group of Canadian men decided to embrace their inner “Aquamen” for a charity calendar that’s definitely making a splash.
For the past two years, the Newfoundland Beard and Mustache Club has created a charity calendar that really makes a splash.
The Merb’ys Calendar features an entire year’s worth of bearded mermen posing for the camera.
Each year, proceeds from the sale of this calendar benefit a group of charities.
For 2020, proceeds from the Merb’y Calendar will support the Planned Parenthood clinic in Newfoundland and Labrador.
The clinic provides a number of critical services including free STD testing and birth control counselling.
It also operates a summer camp for 2SLGBTQ+ youth.

Additionally, Home Again Furniture Bank and the St. John’s SPCA will also receive a portion of the proceeds from the charity calendar.
Since the club started doing the calendars in 2017, thousands of dollars have been raised for various charities.
The idea to do the calendar came to Hasan Hai, the founder of the club, when he saw a “dudeoir” photoshoot on Facebook with a merman theme.
He put out a call for volunteer models and was surprised by the number of men who were willing to don a tail for charity.
Besides the models, the photographers and makeup artists involved are also volunteers.
This ensures that 100% of the proceeds can go to the chosen charities.
Sadly, the Beard and Mustache club has decided that 2020 will be their last Merb’y Calendar.
However they have some more charity initiatives in the works, so we can’t wait to see what they come up with.
