Having a smartphone is one of the best things that have ever happened to some people. Having most of your life fit in your pocket is something that our grandparents probably never dreamed of.
We can do pretty much everything with our smartphones. To a certain degree, you can forget nearly everything at home and still be okay if you have your phone with you. That’s how much people rely on them now. But, regardless of how much we use them, our phones always surprise us .
Apple is always launching new apps and features.

With so many people using iPhones, it’s no wonder that Apple wants to keep everything new and fresh for its users. However, not all of the things they do are favored by users.
Recently, one TikTok user pointed out something that blew us away.

TikTok user Kaliana shared that she noticed something when she was on FaceTime and she couldn’t shake it. It had to do with her eyes. She noticed they definitely did not look “normal.”
As it turns out, Apple changes our faces while using the FaceTime app.

According to Kaliana , our eyes are wholly edited and altered when we use the FaceTime app. Some of us probably don’t even realize that it’s happening until we look for it—but, it’s there.
It’s a setting called “eye contact.”

The idea behind FaceTime is that you are looking and speaking to someone else, but let’s face it—we’re always looking at ourselves, too. We want to make sure that we are looking right and not looking like we just rolled out of bed.
Well, Apple decided to mess around with that a bit.

Kaliana showcased that if you look away on the app, your eyes are almost enlarged so that it appears you are still looking at the person that you are on FaceTime with.
She was less than pleased.
The TikTok user shared that for her, she did not appreciate Apple editing her eyes because she felt as though they were naturally large already—she didn’t need the company going out and making them appear bigger.
Others online felt validated to know this is real.

Many TikTok users pointed out that they knew there was something off with their eyes when they were on FaceTime, but no one believed them whenever they pointed it out to others.
One person said Apple stays trolling us.

One TikTok user said Apple does this because they knew we are all “self-absorbed”. So they did this to make us look prettier because in reality, that’s all people might care about anyhow.
Another shared that they thought they were going crazy.

One TikTok user shared she thought she had lost her mind when she noticed her eye glitch. Seeing Kaliana point out that it’s a real thing made her feel a little less insane.
But thankfully, as one person pointed out, you can turn the feature off if it bothers you.

If you go into your settings you can easily find the feature that is being used on Facetime and turn it off.
Just remember to look at who you are talking to!

Just a heads up, if you do turn the feature off, remember that you’re on FaceTime with an actual person. Just because you may get lost in your own eyes doesn’t mean you shouldn’t focus on who you’re on the phone with.
