Anonymous is a mysterious, worldwide organization of self-proclaimed hackers that emerge in times of crisis to help those being unlawfully attacked by hacking enemy resources.
It’s no different with the current invasion of Ukraine by Russia, an issue that Anonymous has recently announced their side on, hoping to help Ukrainian efforts by dealing critical blows to Russia’s webspace.

After the news of the Russian military’s push into Ukraine, Anonymous decided they would not stand idly by.
The hacker group put out a tweet saying they are “officially in cyber war against the Russian government.”
They made this announcement during the evening of February 24, then struck swiftly.
Within 30 minutes of their declaration, they made a follow-up tweet with their first target.
They had already taken down RT News’ website, a Russian-backed TV channel that airs in Britain.
The tweet above shows the broken website as it tried desperately to return. As of writing, the site is back up and running.
That’s only the first of their targets, though.
While the various Anonymous accounts have been posting about certain Russian government websites being down, they haven’t attributed themselves to those particular outages, instead just keeping people informed of the cyber-state of things.
They continue to reiterate that they do this to help return peace to the world.
Later in the thread, they write, “We want the Russian people to understand that we know it’s hard for them to speak out against their dictator for fear of reprisals. We, as a collective want only peace in the world. We want a future for all of humanity.”
