This past year has made the actress reflect and now, she’s sharing why she chose to step away from the spotlight and spend more time with her family.

As many fans know, Angelina and ex-husband Brad Pitt share six children together —19-year-old Maddox, 17-year-old Pax, 16-year-old Zahara, 14-year-old Shiloh, and 12-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.
The 45-year-old ecently appeared on *Lorraine* with Lorraine Kelly ahead of the North American premiere of Angelina’s latest film, “Those Who Wish Me Dead.”
The Oscar-winning actress opened up about her children amid a custody battle with ex-husband Brad Pitt.
“I’ve been mostly home. But very important years to be home, a certain time in our family I’ve needed to be home,” the actress explained .
“The last few years I haven’t been able to direct. I’ve been home much more.”
“I’ve done a few films, but I’ve been mostly home. These are the years they’re really growing into adults. I’m happy to be here and make sure I do the best I can,” she added.
She went on to discuss her character in her upcoming film.
“I hope that it is interesting for people coming out of this time,” Angelina explained.
“People are still going through difficult times, have had a tough year and it’s about ‘How much can I take? How much have I lost?’”
She continued: “For anybody who’s been in that moment in life if they just don’t know if they can carry on, it’s an interesting character — to watch that character slowly find the pieces of what helps pull you forward, and often it’s that you realize you need to take care of someone else.”
As fans know, Angelina and her ex-husband Brad Pitt are in the middle on an ongoing custody battle for their six children.
She recently told Entertainment Weekly : “I needed to just do shorter jobs and be home more, so I kind of went back to doing a few acting jobs. That’s really the truth of it.”
