There are so many reasons to love Aldi: their wide range of fresh produce, their competitive prices, and their ability to help you get your daily workout in because you have to bag your own groceries!
While this doesn’t bother me (I’m not the Queen, for crying out loud) some people really do have an issue with it, and are trying to “hack” the Aldi system, much to the dismay of the grocery stores employees!
Sure, there are other stores that have someone bagging your items for for you, but if it means I can save some money on my groceries, I don’t mind doing it myself!

That’s exactly how this beloved food store keeps their prices lower than their competitors — they don’t have hired grocery baggers.
However, some people aren’t satisfied with having to do the extra work themselves, and have tried to “hack” the Aldi’s checkout system.
As per the Daily Mail the controversial hack was posted on Facebook and showed someone spacing out their groceries to delay the checkout time. If you’ve ever shopped at Aldi, you know how fast the checkout process goes — those cashiers move at the speed of light!
However, doing this *just* so you have time to bag your groceries at your own pace seems very selfish.

Thankfully, a lot of people felt the same way.
“If you are selfish enough to do that I hope they really throw them at you,” one person replied in the Facebook group where the video was originally posted.
“Stop trying to pack your bags at the checkout,” wrote another. “Put your groceries back into your trolley after they’ve been scanned and pack them at the packing area like you’re supposed to.”
Now, Aldi employee @julia.rowland is taking to social media to explain why this “hack” is actually a horrible idea.
“Coming from someone who works at Aldi, please don’t do this,” she begged, adding, “I get it. Y’all trying to find a loophole. You don’t want to bag your own groceries, but that’s what Aldi is all about.”
“The way we do things at Aldi, we do for a reason. We have very short staff so that we don’t have to pay as many people so that your products are cheaper,” she explained.
“But if we bagged for you guys, we’d have to hire more people to bag for you, which would make the price of your products go up.”
