Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker star, Adam Driver, stormed out of an interview on NPR’s talk show Fresh Air with Terry Gross after they played a clip from Marriage Story .
Adam Driver stormed off in the middle of an interview on NPR’s talk show “Fresh Air” with Terry Gross after they played a short clip from Adam’s latest film, “Marriage Story”.
He was not having it …
A source confirmed to Variety that in the middle of the interview, the program played a 20-second clip from the film, and by the time it was over, Adam had left the building.
“We don’t really understand why he left,” Danny Miller, the executive producer of the show said .
“We were looking forward to the interview,” he added.
“Terry thinks he’s a terrific actor, he was a great guest when he was on [“Fresh Air”] in 2015 — so we were disappointed that we didn’t have a new interview to share with our listeners about ‘Marriage Story.'”
He admitted that Adam mentioned the last time he was on the show that he feels uncomfortable listening to clips of his own films.
And so, the crew made sure to offer an accommodating alternative to Adam in an effort not to offend him.
“We knew from our previous interview with Adam Driver that he does not enjoy listening back to clips of his movies — that isn’t unusual, a lot of actors feel that way.”
Back in 2015 , Adam made it clear that he is not a fan of listening to his own voice or watching his own movies.
“Yeah, no, I’ve watched myself or listened to myself before, then always hate it,” Adam said in 2015.
“And then wish I could change it, but you can’t.”
“And I think I have, like, a tendency to try to make things better,” he went on.
“Or drive myself and the other people around me crazy with the things I wanted to change or I wish I could change .”
More recently, in an interview with The New Yorker, Adam reiterated just how serious he is about not watching or listening to his own work.
He explained that during a screening of Spike Lee’s Blackkklansman , he hid in the greenroom.
And during a premiere of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, he recalled feeling nauseous.
Evidently, Adam is genuinely particular about avoiding these sorts of situations.

Anyway, the producer of “Fresh Air” continued, explaining that they suggested Adam take off his headphones while the clip was played.
This way, the listeners aren’t deprived of the full listening experience and Adam isn’t majorly inconvenienced .
A win-win.
“So Terry invited him to take off his headphones while we played back the 20-second clip,” he said.
“And that our engineer in New York would cue him to put his headphones back on after the clip ended. We also did this during our 2015 interview .”
But this time, Adam wasn’t quite as flexible.
By the time the 20-second clip subsided, Adam had up and left without saying a word.
“But this time around, after the clip concluded we were informed by our engineer in NY that he had walked out of the studio, and then left the building.”
The crew is still not totally sure what triggered Adam to walk out .
“We still don’t understand why Adam Driver chose to leave the interview at that point.”
If you ask me, walking out in the middle of an interview is something every celeb should try out at least once. I’m sure it’s exhilarating!
Although, it isn’t exactly considerate to the “Fresh Air” team and listeners that he left hanging.
