Elvis Presley is undeniably the King of Rock And Roll. With a career filled with his signature, brassy voice, hip thrusts, and over-the-top outfits, Elvis cemented himself as a fixture in pop-culture forever.
Thankfully, it seems even kids today know how to appreciate a legend, and I, for one, couldn’t be more relieved!

Elvis is truly a man that needs no introduction. He is a one-name wonder, like Cher, or Prince!
Born into poverty in Tupelo, Mississippi on January 8th, 1935, Elvis was a blonde-haired, blue-eyed baby with a voice much bigger than himself.
He recorded his first number-one single in 1956, “Heartbreak Hotel” and made his film debut that same year in the fan-favorite, Love Me Tender . Shortly after his rise to stardom, Elvis was drafted into the military in 1958, putting his career on hold for two years.
The 1960’s were filled with a lot of movies for Elvis and sadly, a lot of them weren’t great. Sure, there was “Girl Happy”, “Spinout” and “Viva Las Vegas” but there was *also* “It Happened at the World’s Fair”, “Tickle Me” and “Stay Away, Joe.”
As all real Elvis fans know, the king had his official rebirth in the late sixties with the now legendary 1968 Comeback Special.
Actually, I think I’m going to go grab my Comeback Special DVD boxset and play it in the background as I cry for the good ol’ days. I can still remember the first time I watched the sweat glisten down his face as he performed in that all-black leather suit. He was truly just the coolest !
The 1968 special would go down in history as the moment Elvis reclaimed his throne after nearly a decade of doing mostly garbage movies.
As we know, the early ’70s were truly Elvis’ time to shine.
With songs like “The Wonder of You”, “Raised on Rock”, “Moody Blue,” and the always heartbreaking “Separate Ways” it’s no doubt Elvis had the world mesmerized by his talent and range.
Tragically, Elvis passed away on August 16, 1977 at the age of 42.
In the 40+ years since his passing, his fan base has continued to grow with the younger generations appreciating the King of Rock n’ Roll.
Now, fans are taking to social media to remember Elvis on what would have been his 86th birthday.
There’s no better day than today to watch your favorite Elvis movie, just as long as it’s not “Harum Scarum.”
