Sonya Eddy has sadly passed away at the age of 55. The General Hospital star is currently front-page news as the tragic news of her death circulates the internet – close friend Octavia Spencer released the information earlier today, praising her “creative angel” via a photo tribute. Sonya starred in the popular medical series from 2006 and was adored for her no-nonsense and hard-hitting head nurse character Epiphany Johnson, the mother of character Stan Johnson. The cause of death has not been released. Fans are deeply saddened by the news and have been filling Instagram with tribute comments.

In an Instagram post showing a photo of Sonya, Octavia wrote, “My friend @sonyaeddy passed away last night. The world lost another creative angel. Her legions of @generalhospitalabc fans will miss her ️ My thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones, friends, and fans!”

Sonya was born in Concord, CA in 1967. She made her acting debut in Zora is my Name back in 1990 and has also featured on Daddy Day Care , Lizzie McGuire , ER , plus CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. In 2020, she featured in the TV series Tommy , playing a CPS worker.
