Can you get out of a felony by simply challenging the arresting officer to an old-school game of Rock, Paper, Scisscors?
I’m going to go ahead and answer that with a resounding ‘no.’ Or, at the least, you really shouldn’t be able to. But if you believe one TikToker, that’s exactly what happened in an exchange captured on video and shared on the platform.
The incident went down on a yacht.

Just so we can assess the level of privilege we’re dealing with here, TikToker @thickbwawy shared a video of a group of people on a yacht as they interact with harbor police who’ve pulled up next to the boat.
“We got out of feloney [sic].”

There’s almost no information on this video other than the caption, which assures viewers that this friendly game of Rock, Paper, Scissors was in fact a high-stakes game of chance with the yacht people’s freedom at stake.
Round one: police lose.

Scissors beats paper, so put a point on the board for the girl on the yacht.
As an aside, a felony is a highly serious crime, one that will likely lead to a swift arrest rather than a friendly game.
Paper beats rock.

The girl on the yacht takes the game in a clean sweep, although it kind of looked like she did that thing where she panicked, just kind of extended her hand, and everyone thought she was choosing paper.
The group celebrated.

There’s some light taunting here, but you’d be happy too if you’d just managed to avoid a lengthy prison sentence and rap sheet by playing Rock, Paper, Scissors in an expert way. The celebration is well deserved.
It’s resolved with a handshake.

As might be expected after a group of people was almost charged with a felony, the police shook hands with the group, dropped all charges and went about their day. All’s well that ends well, I guess.
Could it be fake?

I don’t want to burst anyone’s bubble here, but as hard as it is to believe, people sometimes lie and exaggerate online in order to make themselves seem cooler than they are. I’m not suggesting that’s what’s happening here, believe me.
Maybe the true felony was the friends we made along the way.

I’m just going to go ahead and drop the pretense: these folks were never charged with a felony, and in fact engaged in some time-killing with the harbor police.
There, I said it.
What do you think?
I’m calling this one fake, but you don’t have to agree. Be sure to check out the full video and make up your own mind. Do you think these folks were actually facing a felony, or was this all in good fun?
