It seems that every week, there’s a new viral video sweeping across social media. They’re what feeds the internet at large, sparking discussions, reactions, and more, as they tend to be pretty ridiculous.
The current video that’s been making waves is of a rather risky car stunt that resulted in at least two damaged vehicles. The owner of one of those vehicles is speaking out, wanting the person who caused this destruction to confess.
This past week, a video of a Tesla went incredibly viral.
Originally uploaded by YouTuber Alex Choi , the Tesla is seen catching major air on a steep street in Los Angeles, nearly flipping over entirely before its front end smashes into the ground and the car careens forward, only stopped by crashing into two other cars that were parked on the road.
The full-length YouTube video of the event now has over 2 million views.
One of those cars was a Subaru Forester belonging to a musician named Jordan Hook.
The Tesla destroyed his Subaru’s front tires, steering column, and suspension, and this came just after Hook had spent $5000 repairing its engine.
He spoke to TMZ about the incident and what he wants from the yet-to-be-officially-identified driver of the Tesla.
He wants the driver to “man up” to the incident.
“The person that wrecked my car, I hesitate to tell them what their consequences need to be but I will say the first step is just manning up to the mess you created,” he said, “Show up, talk to the people whose streets you trashed who are now scared to park on their street because they think cars are going to jump into them.”
“[…] own up and clean up, you know. Come take care of the mess that you’re making in our neighbourhood.”
After the crash, Hook started a GoFundMe.
Since there was no guarantee that insurance would cover repairs, he and his neighbors thought to create a fundraiser to help him repair the car quickly. It’s closed for donations now, but it reached $22k of its $20k goal.
The largest donation came from Alex Choi himself for the amount of $2000. He sent a note with his donation, saying, “Hope you get your justice serviced. Here is probably all the ad revenue I’ll get from my video.”
LAPD are still looking for the perpetrator, but they have a good lead.
Their tip line was reportedly ‘overwhelmed’ by people naming a social media influencer named DurteDom as the driver, who reportedly uploaded videos of the Tesla wreck that have since been deleted, but there’s no confirmation yet.
Whether or not DurteDom is guilty, there’s no denying the virality of the clip might help police find whoever caused the crash.
