The world has rallied behind Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek in his fight with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer that has been ongoing for over a year now. Trebek has frequently updated his fans about his treatment and his plans for the future, and it doesn’t look like he’s planning on stopping that any time soon after a new interview with The New York Times .
In a video posted to the *Jeopardy!* Twitter account, Alex recently gave a health update.
“I have been continuing my treatment and it is paying off, though it does fatigue me a great deal. My numbers are good. I am feeling great,” Alex revealed.
A new interview however suggests that Alex, 79, is being realistic about his treatment.
In a new interview , Alex opens up about how he plans on stopping treatment if this current round is not successful.
“Yesterday morning my wife came to me and said, ‘How are you feeling?’ And I said, ‘I feel like I want to die.’ It was that bad.”
Alex revealed he wouldn’t be bothered by ‘easing himself’ into whatever comes next.
“There comes a time where you have to make a decision as to whether you want to continue with such a low quality of life, or whether you want to just ease yourself into the next level. It doesn’t bother me in the least,” Alex said.

Alex also revealed he is prepared to step down as host of *Jeopardy!* should the need arise.
“It’s a quality program, and I think I do a good job hosting it, and when I start slipping, I’ll stop hosting,” Alex said.
