When I think back on all the beloved movies from my childhood, one that ranks high on the list is Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory . It’s got everything a kid could want: danger, excitement, and of course — chocolate!
But there are those, like @a_human_bean_ for example, who think that it shouldn’t have been Charlie who walked away as the victor. Read on as this fan lists points why Violet Beauregarde should have won in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory .
When it all boils down, Violet is more passionate about candy than any other child on the tour.
Only two of the children were actively campaigning for a chance to enter Wonka’s factory: Veruca Salt and Violet Beauregarde. Charlie and Mike’s Golden Ticket was nothing more than dumb luck, and Augustus Gloop is simply a glutton with an eating problem.
But unlike Veruca, Violet possesses something that no other child has: genuine love and appreciation for candy.
Shouldn’t that be a pretty glaring prerequisite for someone who’s inheriting a chocolate factory?
There’s also a lot of evidence to suggest that she’s the most adept at running a business.

Violet is a fast-talking salesperson, just like her father. She’s grown up in the world of a used car salesman, and thus understands the nature of sales and business acumen.
Without a doubt, she’s the most grown-up and mature child in the bunch. Her competitive drive and desire to win will carry her far in life. Let’s not forget that she’s a world-record holder , having chewed the same piece of gum for more than three consecutive months.
Violet is the only child without an inherent flaw.

When you take a step back, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory has a lot in common with the movie Se7en . That may sound strange, but allow me to explain: Augustus Gloop is Gluttony. Veruca Salt is Greed. Mike Teavee is Sloth, and Charlie Bucket is Envy.
Violet is truly the only child without sin . Her motivations are honest and pure, driven by no other factors aside from her deep inherent love of gum and candy.
She has ties to other like-minded industries.

Being that she’s from a small town and that her father is a well-known salesman and part-time politician, Violet understands the need to grease the occasional palm.
She could potentially recruit local vendors, thus cutting Wonka’s production costs dramatically. Also, it’s abundantly clear that Veruca Salt cares little-to-nothing about her father’s nut business. Perhaps Violet could partner with Veruca’s father and begin her very own candy empire!
Could that have been what scared Wonka off; her ambition?
Violet is sympathetic to the plight of the Oompa Loompas.
You have to admit that Wonka has a pretty shady operation when it comes to the Oompa Loompas.
And being that his factory had remained closed to the outside world for decades, I’m willing to bet that he wasn’t always adhering to the proper codes and labor laws.
Violet, unlike Wonka, shows compassion for the workers. Do you remember when Veruca tried to get her dad to buy one for her? Violet quickly condemned the thought, screaming “can it, you nit!”
She’s driven and goal oriented.

Violet knew what she wanted and decided to go for it, full force. If you recall, she only switched from gum to chocolate bars in order to help secure herself a seat at Wonka’s table.
Few, if any of the other children have that kind of self-control.
Her strengths also play into two of Wonka’s biggest upcoming projects: the Everlasting Gobstopper (longevity) and the Three-Course-Meal stick of gum. She even puts herself on the front lines in order to give it a test run.
It wasn’t her fault that she turned into a blueberry.

Let’s review, shall we? Wonka explicitly told Augustus that his chocolate must never be touched by human hands, but he did it anyway. Charlie stole Fizzy Lifting Drinks, Veruca destroyed his workroom, and Mike purposely shrunk himself with Wonkavision.
When Violet goes to take the stick of gum, he doesn’t warn her of the consequences — he baits her into taking it! All Wonka says is “I wouldn’t do that, I really wouldn’t …”
What child isn’t going to be enticed by that kind of haphazard warning?!
