It can be easy to get wrapped up in all the flurry of the holidays and forget that there are people out there who aren’t experiencing all the warmth, love, stress, and excitement of Christmas; it’s easy to forget how difficult this time of year can be for many of us.
Academy Award-winning actress Brenda Fricker has given a new interview that will make you feel grateful instead of annoyed the next time your children pester you about what’s under the tree or what’ll be for dinner!
Brenda Fricker is a familiar face, especially this time of year.
Brenda has a pretty impressive IMDb page, including My Left Foot , for which she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
However, most people would know her as the pigeon lady in *Home Alone 2*.
It’s one of the best Christmas movies of all time if you ask me.
Piers Morgan recently brought attention to Brenda’s character after people noticed their striking similarities.
“Why does this keep coming around? That is not me. I am not the bag lady in Home Alone 2,” Piers said on an episode of Good Morning Britain earlier in December.
Despite Brenda being best known for her role in the Christmas movie, it turns out that Christmas isn’t a very good time of year for Brenda.
She opened up about it in a recent interview .
“I would be lying if I said that it would be a nice and happy Christmas,” Brenda said.
“I’m old and I live alone. It can be very dark,” she went on. “I just turn the phone off and put the blinds down.”
I don’t know about you, but I’m already digging out my phone book to give a call to every grandparent and great-aunt or -uncle I have!
“I do pre-record some good programs, and I have my dog and I get myself through it that way,” Brenda said.
“I don’t want to be sounding kind of negative but it is a different kind of Christmas, that’s all.”

Brenda explained that Christmas wasn’t the hardest holiday for her.
“I don’t find Christmas all that difficult. What I do find very difficult is New Year’s Eve,” she said.
Brenda explained that she has “no one to turn around to hug or smile at” when the church bells ring in the new year, adding, “I can’t escape the bells.”
Well, we hope Brenda can have a peaceful holiday season, and we hope she enjoys her programs with her dogs!
