When it comes to classic Christmas films, I think it’s easy to say we’d all add the Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis classic Christmas with the Kramks to that list. However, I’m here today to let you all why it’s important to recognize this movie as so much more than a movie — it’s a state of mind!
It’s hard to believe Christmas with the Kranks came out all the way back in 2004.
The film follows married couple Nora and Luther Krank as they navigate their first Christmas without their daughter, Blair,
Instead of participating in Christmas, the pair decide to just “skip it” and go on a Caribbean cruise.
Now how does a movie like that get only five percent on Rotten Tomatoes you ask? Interesting because I’m also asking that same thing!
The main issue people seem to have with this film is that aggressive neighbours who essentially bully the Kranks into celebrating Christmas.
However, I’d argue that their friends and family only do this because the Kranks have always loved the holiday season.
I’m sure if they moved and the family who bought their house didn’t celebrate Christmas, it wouldn’t be a big deal!
I think this film is a great reminder of the true meaning of Christmas and community.
It proves that you don’t need to spend thousands of dollars to feel the magic of Christmas — it’s in the people you love most!
Now, it’s time that the universe put a little respect on this movie!
