One of the greatest things to witness in any film is true immersion. The kind of performance where you can’t distinguish where the actor begins and their characte r ends.
These roles and their respective films should be cherished, not cheapened. The truth is, certain movie characters should just never be recast because the original actor was perfect!

The range of emotions that Tom is able to evoke from his audience is staggering.
Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa in *Black Panther*.
The death of Chadwick Boseman sent shockwaves through the entertainment community. Rumors are circulating that Black Panther 2 will focus on T’Challa’s sister Shuri, and I for one hope that they do.
Rest in peace, King. Wakanda forever.
Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley in *Alien*.
How many female action heroes can you name? They are few and far between, but arguably the best of the bunch is Ellen Ripley.
Sigourney’s portrayal was a huge step forward for the feminist movement in film. There’s no need to risk tainting her contributions.
Robert Shaw as Sam Quint in *Jaws*.
I absolutely love Jaws . It’s a movie I’ll always come back to and it’s all thanks to Robert Shaw’s awe-inspiring performance as the shark wrangling ex-soldier, Sam Quint.
Listening to his harrowing tale aboard the U.S.S. Indianapolis is one of my all-time favorite movie scenes.
Kathy Bates as Annie Wilks in *Misery*.
When’s the last time you were truly afraid while watching a film? I’m talking about the type of terror that stays with you long after the credits roll.
For me, that movie is Misery and the reason is Kathy Bates.
Marlon Brando as Don Vito Corleone in *The Godfather*.
It should go without saying, but Marlon Brando was and is still considered to be one of the greatest actors who ever lived.
To even suggest that someone else could fill his shoes as Vito Corleone is blasphemy as far as I’m concerned.
Sylvester Stallone as Rocky Balboa in *Rocky*.
The film Rocky can be seen as a metaphor for Sylvester Stallone’s entire career. In this way, he’s imprinted himself into the character to the point of being indistinguishable.
What I’m trying to say is that Stallone is Rocky; Rocky is Stallone.
Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator in *The Terminator*.
Let’s just stop pretending that Arnold Schwarzenegger isn’t the most legendary action-hero who ever was or will be.
The words “I’ll be back” coming out of any other actor’s mouth would just sound wrong.
Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger in *A Nightmare On Elm Street*.
This next one should be a warning to all about the inherent dangers that come from messing with a classic. I love Jackie Earle Haley as much as the next guy, but his turn wielding Freddy’s knives was laughable.
It made a mockery of the entire franchise. Never again!
Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones in *Raiders Of The Lost Ark*.
Harrison Ford should have been on this list for Han Solo.
Luckily, Ford is such a badass that he holds the mantle to not one but two of Holywood’s most iconic characters. Hopefully, the studio learned their lesson after releasing Solo and they’ll steer clear of a Raiders reboot.
Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man in *Iron Man*.
Luckily, we won’t have to be worried about this for a very long time. Robert Downey Jr.’s time spent as Iron Man was one of the most memorable and incredible comic book performances that have ever been.
There isn’t a man or woman alive that can match his swagger.
Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly in *Back To The Future*.
There are some ugly rumors floating around that Tom Holland is in talks to reprise the role of Marty McFly.
This absolutely cannot happen. I love you Tom, and you’ll always be my Spider-Man. But please, don’t take Back to the Future away from me. This movie is perfect, so let’s just respect it.
Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow in *The Pirates Of The Caribbean*.
There’s one other man alive who could possibly be able to pull off playing Captain Jack Sparrow, and that’s Rolling Stones’ guitarist Keith Richards .
But aside from that, Captain Jack is the role that Johnny was born to play.
