There are few shows out there that just capture your attention and keep it for the entire run, but The Handmaid’s Tale is definitely one of them.
The show has been on the air since 2017 and has been a smash hit ever since. Even though season 4 has been delayed a few times and hasn’t aired yet, we just got some great news about season 5 to tide us over!

Based on the novel of the same name by Margaret Atwood from 1985, the show follows June, played by Elisabeth Moss, as she attempts to escape the dystopian world where women are enslaved based on their fertility.
For some viewers, that dystopian future hasn’t felt too far from our world, which makes it even scarier!
Season 4 was unfortunately delayed due to the pandemic hitting while they were filming.
“We were only two weeks in, so we actually have an entire season to shoot,” Elisabeth Moss revealed in an interview back in June.
Elisabeth made it clear they wanted to be back at work as soon as possible!
“We want to go back to work because families have people to support and rent they need to pay,” she said.
“But at the same time no human’s life is worth a TV show. We’re just trying to figure out how to do it safely for everybody,” Elisabeth added.
While I was obviously disappointed that we’d have to wait longer for the story to continue, it makes perfect sense that they’d have to take things slow.
However, Elisabeth just shared some great news in a video on her Instagram page.
“Season 4 coming to you in 2021 and… we have been renewed for a season 5!!!” she wrote alongside a video of herself and the other cast members celebrating the news.

Elisabeth went on.
“Thank you to all of the fans of the show who make it possible for us to keep working on this show that we love so dearly,” she added.
You hear that? She means me ! And you, of course. And probably some other people.
“We’re hard at work now bringing you season 4, literally I’m on set as we speak,” Elisabeth said.
“Just can’t tell you WHAT set, you’ll have to tune in for that,” she ended on a bit of a tease.
