It’s become a bit of a joke that celebrities tend to give their babies names that are a bit… off the beaten path.
While it’s easy to sit and judge them for picking names that we would never, it’s about time that we realize there’s a reason celebrities name their kids things that regular people never would — and it’s because they’re not regular people, and neither are their kids!

There are a lot of difficult decisions that come with raising a baby.
Decisions like, how do we want to raise them? Where do we want them to go to school? When should they get their first phone? When do they get access to the Internet? What do we tell them about Santa Claus?
The list goes on.
One particularly tough decision is what the baby should be named.
They’re stuck with this name for the rest of their life — or at least until they can change it themselves. Do you honor your family? Do you go for something unique? Do you go for something classic? There are so many questions.
It’s always hard to find a balance between an off-the-wall unique name and a all-too-common name.
While you probably don’t want your kid to be one of fifteen Jessicas or Olivers in their grade at school, you also probably don’t want to give them a name nobody else on Earth has, right?
Unless, of course, you’re a celebrity.
There are a lot of celebrities with children with really unusual names.
You can just look at one family for a pretty good example — the children of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West! Chicago, Saint, Psalm, and of course, North West are famous for their unique names.
It’s not just Kim, either!
Kim’s kids’ cousins in the larger Kardashian clan also have pretty one-of-a-kind names, including Stormi, Dream, True, and Reign.
Actress Shannyn Sossamon named her son Audio Science. Actor Jason Lee named his son Pilot Inspektor. Magician Penn Jillette named his daughter Moxie Crimefighter. There are a lot of unique baby names out there.
One of the biggest stories surrounding celebrity names came last year.
Billionaire Elon Musk and musician Grimes shocked the world when they announced the birth of their son, X AE A-Xii (originally X Æ A-12).
By the way, the baby mostly just goes by “X,” if you’re worried about how to pronounce it .
Obviously, this lead to a lot of jokes about what the kid’s life is going to look like.
While a lot of these jokes were funny (and maybe some of the jokes about North West’s name were too!), there’s something we’re forgetting — we have no idea what this kid’s life is going to look like, because he’s not a regular kid!
Baby X isn’t going to have the same problems with his name that a regular kid might!
He’s the son of one of the richest men in the world! Odds are, he’s never going to have to worry about what his name on a resumé or a school application will make people think.
Celebrities’ kids have unique names because their names signify their status!
Their kids are going to grow up with wealth and opportunities us regular people could never dream of, and they don’t need to worry about what impression their names might give off.
It’s just not as big a deal for famous babies.
They have total freedom, plus money won’t be an object if they decide they want to change their name as an adult!
Also, really, how often do you hear someone’s legal name, anyway? Going by a more normal name in their private life might allow them to keep their famous parent’s identity a secret.
Celebrities live by different rules, including the rules around naming their kids.
Face it — if you knew for a fact it wouldn’t make their life worse, wouldn’t you want to give your kid a fun, unique name that’s original and never seen before? I know I would!
