Air travel is the safest, fastest way to get from one place to another, and if it wasn’t, there’s no way it would be worth the hassle, because it’s also the worst. You’re trapped in a giant tube, crammed into tiny seats with a bunch of strangers and no elbow room, let alone leg room, and that’s your life for the next few hours.
If you’re lucky, you get some sleepy people around you who won’t put up a fuss or make noise or otherwise disturb you.
If not, well, you might be in for a profoundly disturbing experience.

If you’ve been on a rough flight recently — and if you’ve flown at all, you probably have — take heart because you’re in good company.
Lizzie Thompson’s story pretty much takes the cake, however. She was on a long-haul, traveling Air France from Paris to Los Angeles, a trip that typically takes about 12 hours.
That’s easily long enough under the best of circumstances in coach, but her trip wasn’t made any better by one of her fellow travelers.
Once you hear her story, you’ll be thanking the next person who falls asleep on your shoulder, or the next kid that cries for an hour straight.
As Lizzie documented on Twitter, she knew she was in for quite the experience when the guy showed up at his seat in just his boxers.
Apparently trying to make his flight as comfortable as a 12-hour stint on his couch in front of Netflix, the guy had removed his pants, and the flight attendants seemed to be okay with that.
As a baseline, this man is already being ridiculous and making people uncomfortable.
But the fact that it only gets worse makes so so much more cringe-worthy.
And let’s face it, if you’re turning coach into your own little living room, are you going to stop at your boxers? No.
And this guy didn’t, as Lizzie showed:
Yup, his socks came off.
There are obviously no written rules for airline etiquette, but you have to think if there were, “no bare feet” would be in bold and underlined, along with “keep your pants on.”
Now cozy, the pants-less passenger spotted someone who might make his flight more fun, and everybody else’s more brutal.
A guy holding a ukulele boarded, and the passenger waved him over to “make some music.” At least he wasn’t learning the clarinet?
The only thing that could make this flight worse for people, is a sing-along.
And he has a ukulele, so you know it would be “Wonderwall,” wouldn’t it?
Possibly even more concerning than all this is the reaction of the flight attendants.
Lizzie did try to say something, but her concerns earned her little more than a shrug.
He did manage to have quite the flight, but seemingly not as bad as everyone quite reasonably expected.
Still rocking his boxers, the guy downed some wine, fell asleep, woke up six hours later cold, and put on his jacket — but still not his pants. That nap seems like a real blessing in this situation.
It’s pretty hilarious that he has Cardi B logic, though.
And by that I mean, wearing a sweater but also wearing shorts, or wearing a mini dress in the dead of winter without hesitation. Cardi said it best!
Only when the plane finally touched down in L.A. did the guy put his pants back on.
And in the end, the flight attendants did show Lizzie a little mercy and provide her with some wine for her troubles.
Folks at home following along had some questions, so Lizzie provided a little insight.
The ukulele player didn’t get around to giving the cabin a concert, the guy took his pants off in the bathroom before takeoff and put them back on while standing in the aisle, and she was sure he was neither American nor French.
I definitely can’t top that for a challenging flight!
