Any parent would agree that there is no worse fear than something terrible happening to your child. It can get to the point where, if you even think something bad may have happened, you’ll end up sick to your stomach.
That happened recently to one Reddit user, whose baby seemingly disappeared from his crib within just a few short minutes. She of course panicked but then luckily learned that her baby was still safe and sound, sleeping as if nothing was happening. All because the baby monitor froze at the wrong time.
The user, who goes by Agile-Ad-2435, shared her short, terrifying, yet not-at-all serious story on the New Parents Subreddit.
She Simply Titled The Post, “My Baby Disappeared.”

Luckily, Her Baby Didn’t Actually Disappear.

As the mom says in the post, she’d put her baby down for a nap and then stepped outside for a moment to take out the trash. But when she came back inside, she didn’t hear her baby fussing through the monitor like she’d expected him to. So she looked at the monitor and was shocked to see that there was no baby in there.
The user “nearly puked,” thinking that her baby had somehow gone missing or had been kidnapped. But when she went to his actual room, he was in there, perfectly safe. As it turned out, the baby monitor had been frozen on an image of the room before she put her baby to sleep, making it look like no one was there. As terrifying as it was at the jump, everything was just fine in the end.
Other Parents Reacted To The Story.

It seems that baby monitors freezing at the worst time is a thing that happens a little too often. One user shared how their monitor was frozen on a shot of their baby sleeping when they’d already taken the baby out of their crib. It made it look like there was a second baby in the house!

While baby monitors are handy tools you can use to make sure your baby is safe, they also seem to be gateways to some really creepy stuff.
Some Parents Experience Thinking Their Child Has Vanished Outside Of The Home, Too.

As one user shares, a mom they know thought her child went home from daycare with another family, only to realize the educator got the kid mixed up with another kid of the same first name. It must be really scary out there for a parent.
