Scary movies are a ton of fun…for some of us.
For others, they’re actual nightmares.
If you need a laugh after watching Pennywise terrorize small children, or seeing ghosts terrorize the Warrens in The Conjuring , then this is absolutely the list for you.
“It” (The Original)
I bet you thought you’d be seeing a behind-the-scenes shot of the new It movie first, huh?
That’ll come later. First, I need everyone to marvel at the comedic beauty of Tim Curry holding an umbrella while smoking from the set of the original It .

If this picture was to be taken in 2019, the only difference would be that the Alien would be texting, rather than sitting there and contemplating life.
Whoever was in that suit? I salute you.
“Annabelle”
The cursed doll that haunts my dreams! Wonderful.
Annabelle isn’t nearly as terrifying when she’s being carefully arranged in a prop box by a woman in a Star Wars t-shirt.
So there, you weirdo doll.
“Jaws”
There’s something hauntingly hilarious about seeing a big, tough, animatronic shark just straight chilling next to a totally calm human.
I guess everyone needs a time-out now and then, don’t they?
“The Conjuring 2”
The frickin’ Nun isn’t so scary now, is she?
With the lights on, the Nun (or Valak, depending on if you’ve seen The Conjuring 2 or The Nun ) looks less like a killer demon, and more like a prop you’d find at a Halloween store.
Girl, you need some blush.
“Creature from the Black Lagoon”
Try to explain this picture with absolutely no context. I dare you.
It truly looks like the Creature is as concerned as everyone else about his injured victim. We love a thoughtful monster.
“It”
Pennywise doesn’t look so tough when he has to sit patiently to have his makeup done, does he?
Honestly, the scariest thing about this picture is that one mask in the back. Wtf is that?

Not only does the presence of the film crew take the fear out of seeing Michael Meyers, it also gives cool insight into how the new Halloween was made!
You can see Michael dragging the leg of the cameraman, which helped achieve the POV shot of his victim seeing him above them.

First of all, the idea of a murderous dog is just blasphemous.
In all seriousness, this picture of actor Gary Morgan as the movie’s titular character definitely takes the bite out of the iconic dog.
In fact, it’s almost…cute.
“The Conjuring”
Meet James Wan, the driving force behind the new era of horror films that we all (okay, that I) know and love.
He directed Saw, The Conjuring, Insidious , and… Aquaman . Hey, they can’t all be horror movies!
Shoutout to James for not only making awesome movies, but making the demonic version of one of The Conjuring ‘s main characters way less scary.
“Hellraiser”
Some of the best behind-the-scenes shots come out of the makeup process.
In this case, Hellraiser ‘s Pinhead (Doug Bradley) is the opposite of terrifying. Bonus points: whoever wrote “weeeed” on the vintage print-out of this picture.
“Bird Box”
Ever wonder how they got those amazing shots of Sandra Bullock rowing backwards?
Well, now we all know. And it looks…kinda goofy. The seating on that barge looks pretty tight, too. Harsh.
