A doctor has taken to social media to explain what really happens when you quit sugar for a couple of weeks.
Too much sugar is bad for you
It’s certainly no secret that too much sugar is bad for your health, but it seems no matter how much we know this, it remains difficult to cut out.
People are always trying no-sugar diets, but what actually happens when you cut out the sugar?
A doctor online has explained it
Taking to his TikTok platform, Dr. Eric Berg explained what would happen if you actually quit sugar.
While you might initially find yourself craving it, he said you’ll eventually ‘be able to go longer without food.’
You’ll feel more energetic

“You’re going to have a lot more energy, because now your body’s tapping into your fat reserves to produce its energy,” the doctor said in the video with almost 15 million views.
“You’re gonna lose more weight,” he added.
You could get mood swings but they’ll stop
Although cutting out sugar might also result in some mood swings at the start, due to the reduced dopamine release, Dr Berg says you’ll eventually start feeling ‘more up’, especially if you ‘were depressed or had anxiety’ beforehand.
Your focus will also improve

The doctor also reckons your ability to focus will improve once you’re over the slump of detoxifying your body of its desire for constant sugar.
“You’re going to think better, and have more focus and concentration,” he said.
You’ll also start seeing physical improvements

Dr. Berg added that on top of feeling better, you’ll also start to look better as inflammation reduces in the body and your skin becomes clearer.
“You’re going to notice that your skin is just a lot better. It will have that healthy glow,” he said.
It’s better to cut it out gradually
Dr. Berg added, “You’re going to notice that throughout your body, there’s going to be a lot less inflammation and pain.”
The general medical advice for dietary changes is if you’re going to cut something out, it’s better to do so gradually rather than cold turkey. So if you plan on cutting out sugar, it’s better to take it slow.
